Very limited contents and the worst is that they are tagged with wrong addresses! Useless app!

A Lot is Missing

M. Burger

I hope that Phaidon Press expects to revise and update this app after its release today. As it stands now, it is rather disappointing.

Advertised as a travel guide, where are all the heroic, classic modern buildings by the likes of Mies, Wright and the rest of the gang that I would go out of my way to look at? Phaidon has produced books on these folks, so surely they have photos of the Tugendhat House (now open to the public), etc. in their files. If I travel to some European city, Amsterdam for example, I want to be directed to not just the Rietveldt Academy by some current firm, but also to the (in my opinion) more significant work of the master himself.

Even with regard to the contemporary architects, the best is missing. Where is Annabelle Selldorf's sublime work. Why only one building by Julie Snow?

Phaidon's Design Classics app is much, much better. Either that or, perhaps, I find much of the work produced by contemporary architects as shown here not really worth looking at.

Not what I was expecting.

From the description of the app, I was expecting a location-aware guide to local architecture. The app is actually designed to give architecture professionals a guide to ongoing construction projects, and was not at all useful to me as a non-architect. The description should better reflect the real purpose of the app.
