Description

More than another note-taking app, PhatPad turns your iPad into an advanced brainstorming tool. Draw, write, and type your ideas then instantly share them via email, WiFi sync, iTunes, Box, Dropbox, SkyDrive, Google Drive, or presentation mode. PhatPad’s digital ink technology and handwriting recognition engine allows you to scribble handwritten notes and drawings and convert them into digital text, or perfect geometrical shapes.

Express Yourself!

PhatPad offers everything you need to express your ideas, enabling you to draw pictures, jot notes, or put a mixture of drawings, images, handwritten and typed text on a virtual scratch pad. The included handwriting recognition engine automatically converts your handwritten notes into digital text, and PhatPad even takes objects you scribble and translates them to perfectly formed shapes.

Brainstorming and collaborating with team members is simple using PhatPad’s Presentation mode, which lets you create quick presentations and display them on your iPad.

With PhatPad, you can:

An amazing app

Steve from the Ranch

PhatPad caught my eye when I saw who the developer was. PhatWare has been in the handheld computing business for years, and I remember buying their CalliGrapher handwriting recognition engine way back in 1997. PhatPad is fast, works with Dropbox, exports files as PDFs, allows emailing of notes, and does the same type of magic (handwriting and shape recognition) that my Newton MessagePad did back in the 1990s.

I recommend using this app with a stylus like the Alupen or Pogo Stylus, as it is the closest you'll get to writing on a piece of paper. The handwriting recognition isn't perfect, but darned close. It doesn't require any "training" of the app, and converts the writing to digital text in a flash.

It's hard to believe that PhatPad is a 1.0 release -- it is so smooth and well done that it feels much more like an oft-updated, well-polished app. I can't wait to see what new features PhatWare can add to the app. I'd like to see one thing -- voice recording -- added, as that is often useful during meetings and brainstorming sessions.

Excellent App-Learning Curve

This note taking and annotation app has a number of excellent features not available on other apps, such an OCR Engine that is quite flexible and gesture shortcuts. Text is box orriented rather than page oriented. These boxes can be moved about on the page and can even be layered! There is access to a huge varriety of adjustable fonts. Ink can be written or drawn anywhere on the page, even on top of inserted pictures. Handwritten text can be OCR recognized at a later time. There is a large library of clipart included that can be downloaded and used. There are a variety of inputs and outputs to the app that are quite flexible, including cloud service in and out and pdf out that can be open in other apps. Audio notes can be added. There will be a learning curve to the many features and options available, but if you like to have more tools and settings at your disposal, you will like this app!

This. App...

Is a fun way to pass the time, vandalize friends pictures, and actually make some pretty cool art designs. The set-up was a tad confusing at first because I didn't read the tutorial (which was rather nicely laid out and not at all composed of horrible tiny black text, but instead color and pictures)but slowly unfolding all the attributes was actually kind of fun! I like that bold colors are set as the default, but are changeable. Since there are 5 options, I can create 5 specific colors and alternate between them without the stress of having to recreate the same color to the exact shade (which nobody likes). AND THERE ARE SO MANY TOOLS. I can add pictures, and give them funny caption and screen shot them and send them to friends. Or put a nice mustache on my face for a new Facebook profile picture :) I can even make presentations!!! What the heck?! So awesome. I would highly recommend
