Meet the Hue app. The amazing way to control every Philips Hue product in your home. All from the palm of your hand or from your wrist with the Apple Watch.
With Hue, you’ll see light in a whole new way. It lets you set the ideal lighting for every occasion. It’s clever, intuitive and connected. It‘s a whole new experience.
We call it PERSONAL WIRELESS LIGHTING.
Hue lets you express who you are, through the way you light your home.
Hue can be wherever you want and you can access it whenever you want. Any room. Any space. All wirelessly, through your smart device or Apple Watch.
At its heart, Hue is a lighting solution for the home. It’s functional and practical. But it can also be emotive and inspiring. It’ll change the way you think about home lighting. Forever.
Philips Hue starter pack (bulbs + Bridge or Bloom + Bridge or Iris + Bridge or LightStrips + Bridge). Single Hue lighting products and Hue accessories can then be added, up to a maximum of 50 products per bridge.
What's New in Version 1.8.2
Added support for Apple Watch
- We listened to the feedback and increased the widget size to two rows of scenes
- Fixed a crash in Alarms & Timers overview on iOS 8.3
Dimmer in the Widget
After the new update had fixed the crashing issue, the app is back to being useful again. It used to be so frustrating to have to unlock your phone, find your app, open the app, wait for the app to connect to your bridge, and then turn on or off your lights. But now there is a widget which makes this whole lights on/lights off process so much quicker. I would love for the widget to contain a small sliding bar underneath the scenes to dim the lights that are involved with the scenes. Granted, within the widget you wouldn't have the ability to dim individual lights, but a dimming feature in the widget would be priceless!
Update: PLEASE ADD THE ABILITY TO CHANGE BRIGHTNESS WITH THE DIGITAL CROWN ON THE WATCH APP
Lockscreen widgets no longer work after update
This is my hue daily driver. I'm dinging it some starts because after the latest update my lockscreen (and apple watch) widgets no longer work reliably, randomly activating only some lights, sometimes with the wrong colors (I have 12 lights so maybe this is a problem only for hue addicts).
Hopefully an update will fix this; the widgets worked well before but right now they are unusable except for turning off all lights.
I use several hue apps, and if you are a hue owner then you should check out the other apps out there too, especially the music and dynamic ones. My favorite right now is Scintillatro.
This one works well for setting timers and it has an Apple watch app, which should be handy once the widgets start working again! I have about 30 different timers running different scenes and use this app to keep all of them organized.
I recommend setting up an account with hue and syncing scenes and alarms through it. This allows you to control your lights via a web browser, which comes in handy when...
Really would like to give this 5 stars. I love my Philips Hue lights and all my friends and family are amazed. But recently over the last 3-4 months Geofencing has been an absolute DISASTER. When entering into an area scenes will activate and then turn off the scene automatically. As if i'm entering and exiting an area at the same time. 70% i will get a notification that a scene has been turned on upon entering an area but when i get in my room all the lights are off. This feature used to work flawlessly. Please fix this!!!
