Customer Reviews

Edit: I swear to god if you charge us for the new app you're going to be sorry.

The developers on this app should be fired. This is the most embarrassing, frustrating, counter-intuitive and even harmful app. It's obvious that the geniuses that created this app have never used it before. Creating a scene using a picture is so unhelpful it's as though the Philips team is teasing me. You can't create scenes from scratch, when you try all of your lights come on in completely random colors which you have to correct before you can start. And because you're stuck with this HORRIBLE and INFURIATING application if you want HomeKit integration (the ability to use Siri to control your lights - but only 12 of them) you are forced to put up with it. No updates and they ignore emails and feedback. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND WAITING TO PURCHASE HUE LIGHTS AND GO WITH THEIR COMPETITION which will undoubtedly force Philips to replace this piece of body waste.

Still the hue app I use most

Pro: with a little care to design scene photos, the widgets can be really useful. I like that they allow to turn off the lights in a scene too. I mostly use it to set up scenes and control them by widget. I also use location trigger to turn on porch light when I come home after dark, as in that one place it allows for a conditional trigger, which I can't get with ifttt.
Cons: bad for any kind of automation. No rooms or zones, no triggers, very limited alarms and timers. Scenes can't leave some settings of affected lights 'as is' - eg leave brightness and change only color or vice versa. Control of switches is much better in iconnect hue. Ge link bulbs show in siri menu but don't work with Siri. I would not care if hue had outdoor bulbs. Other HomeKit devices can't be controlled. The list is endless.

Continues to be horrible!!!

It's amazing really... a massive global corporation like Philips apparently can't hire programmers who actually know how to create a decent app! After all these pointless updates, they STILL can't figure out how to make the Alarms & Timers page scroll smoothly. God help you if you have more than one page of alarms and timers like I do... scrolling that page up or down is literally painful to watch! It lags and sticks and stutters. And yet they have time to release an update that changes their app icon from color to black & white. Brilliant! Especially when you consider that the app is called HUE... you know... HUE, as is COLORS! So let's represent an app that's all about COLORED light bulbs by giving it a monochrome icon. Wow!

Come on Philips. We've invested a bloody fortune in your hardware. The least you can do is show some respect in return by getting your act together and creating a useful, smooth working app!
