Philips Hue gen 1
Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
Meet the Hue app. The amazing way to control every Philips Hue product in your home. All from the palm of your hand or from your wrist with the Apple Watch.
With Hue, you’ll see light in a whole new way. It lets you set the ideal lighting for every occasion. It’s clever, intuitive and connected. It‘s a whole new experience.
We call it PERSONAL WIRELESS LIGHTING.
Hue lets you express who you are, through the way you light your home.
Hue can be wherever you want and you can access it whenever you want. Any room. Any space. All wirelessly, through your smart device or Apple Watch.
At its heart, Hue is a lighting solution for the home. It’s functional and practical. But it can also be emotive and inspiring. It’ll change the way you think about home lighting. Forever.
Philips Hue starter pack (bulbs + Bridge or Bloom + Bridge or Iris + Bridge or LightStrips + Bridge). Single Hue lighting products and Hue accessories can then be added, up to a maximum of 50 products per bridge.
What's New in Version 1.12.2
Bug fixes and stability improvements
Lights no longer work after last major update.
After update and new app release, every light no longer works. After much troubleshooting, I decided to delete and research for each light. However, bridge can no longer find lights. I then had to remove all lights and power them inches away from the bridge and use the computer app to search for them. This finally allowed me to connect them. Installed the lights around in the original locations in the house. A day later, all of the living room lights already stopped working. Kitchen lights are somehow still connected and working. Did not have a problem with the old application besides missing some functions. I'm planning on waiting now and hoping Philips can hire a new crew to make an actual functionable application. After all they should have plenty of money to do so after selling these light bulbs for $50+ a shot.
Don't Don't Don't buy Hue until they fix this app
I have over 40 hue bulbs throughout my home. Originally version one worked Ok, not great. Then version two of the app is released. It's awful. Unusable, actually. Back to version one for me, but Philips has hobbled it with the update forcing you to upgrade to version 2 of the app with every click. I'm going to sell my Hue system ( using the latest HomeKit bridge) and go with another system that has a decent app and interface. Philips, a real disappointment. I love your sonicare toothbrush, though. Stick to dental care and gracefully sell your home automation line to Samsung. Game over.
Not staying connected
I may be missing something but I can't keep the new version of the app connected to the bridge on either the iPhone or iPad. It would be easy to say it's the bridge except the bridge is new and both the older version of the app and the SmartThing app work great and stay connected.
It's not the most intuitive app. As an example the app offers the ability to combine lights into a room. I defy an first time user to do just that and be able to control those lights!
