Photo Trap Change Detection
By Escape the Wolf LLC
This app is only available on the App Store for iOS devices.
Photo Trap allows the user to determine if any tampering, disturbance or nosiness occurred while away. Basically, the app will tell you if someone has been messing with your stuff. Great for hotel stays (luggage), roommate situations (your bedroom), keeping children in check (the liquor cabinet), office spaces (cleaning services), and millions of other situations where you might think someone is digging in your drawers.

Simple and Effective
This is such an easy and intuitive app to use. Zooming in on the image and tapping to switch shows you if something is even slightly misaligned. Obviously it's easier to tell if you can align both of the shots perfectly, but even if they're slightly misaligned it's still easy to spot the differences.
One suggestion to improve the app- display a 3D accelerometer arrow in the corner of the image so when you take your second picture you can first re-align the 3D arrow with the ghost arrow. That way you know your angle is correct and you then only have to move the camera in two dimensions to align it.
Simple and works as intended saw this on nicks channel when 100 deadly skills did hotel proofing. It is amazing very happy.
Decent but with an AD after purchase??
Works as advertised (kind of). Read below for details. But an ad at the bottom to either a personal business or some sponsor business? Seriously??
The App Functionality
The difficult part is not lining up the photo left to right, but the depth of your shot. If your 2 inches closer or 2 inches away, or more, that will affect the alignment of the photo.
I took several test shots and I find it near impossible to line up 100% the same. You would have to remember exactly where you were standing, the exact place but your phone was held, the distance to the objects, and the angle your phone is facing towards them. These are all difficult variables to reenact, and I did my two photos one right after another standing in the same spot and it was still challenging. now imagine being out of the hotel, leaving in the morning, and coming back and evening. Are you gonna remember exactly where you were standing? How you were holding your phone? The angle the depth of the placement? Nope.
It would work better if there was someway to know the distance with a depth meter or some form of placement meter on the phone. Some type of graph or chart or arrows that indicate that you need to move the phone up or down, left or right, closer or farther away. I don't know how complicated or easy this is to create within the app, but that would make it 100 times better. But based on the fact that you stuck and add at the bottom of a paid app tells me that this will remain mediocre at best if it even lives past a year.
To buy or not to buy
So does it work? Kind of but not perfectly. I suppose if you stand there for a minute or two and figure out where your phone is in the air… Someone might think you have turrets as you wobble your phone in the air in random circular patterns to try and find exactly where your phone was being held LOL. It's better than nothing put it that way, but it's not full proof by any means.
On the bottom of the screen is a banner for a hyperlink to a website that sells tactical accessories and clothing. Seriously? What the actual F? WHEN PEOPLE PAY FOR AN APP - YOU DONT PUT AN AD IN IT, EVEN IF ITS YOUR OWN WEBSITE. THATS THE POINT OF PAYING!
This is such a ridiculously amateur move it makes me question the longevity of this app. This is a cardinal rule that you just don't break, and you broke it clear as day. You're lucky you're getting three stars.
For a dollar it's not a terrible loss. But don't expect anything spectacular. I appreciate the entrepreneurial approach to a novel idea, but you need to execute it better and stick by the rules of the game. Again it's better than nothing but it's very far from foolproof.
