What's New

Version 3.2.3

New in 3.2.3:
- New: You can now choose to transfer both the HEIC and converted JPEG of a photo (HEIC+JPEG). You can enable this option in the settings of the transfer target.
- New: Layout & Design adjusted for iOS 11
- Fixed: Transferring HEIC based Live Photos to other iOS devices could cause PhotoSync to crash
- Improved: Transfer and naming of edited Live Photos and iOS 11 live photo effects

New in 3.2:
- New: Support for HEIC / HEVC conversion on iOS 11. HEIC / HEVC are the new image / video formats on iOS 11.
PhotoSync can now convert HEIF to JPEG and HEVC to H264 before upload. For cloud services that do not support the new formats this is done automatically. For other targets the user is asked upon the first transfer of HEIC photos, whether an auto-conversion to JPEG should be performed.
You can enable / disable conversion in the Quality Transfer settings of the target.
- New: Added a "Tip Jar": Enables users to give a voluntary ‘tip’ to the PhotoSync development team as appreciation for the continuous updates to the app and dedicated end user support. You can find the "Tip Jar" in the settings menu.
- New: Optimized for iOS 11
- New: Added new Smart Albums "Animated" and "Long Exposure" (iOS 11 only)
- Fixed Flickr-Authentication: PhotoSync now supports the new authentication mechanism required by Flickr

Can’t do all it says

This app is great if you want to transfer just between devices. But I’m using an iPhone. All photos already sync between devices. I got this app because it supposedly syncs to local storage on NAS. I have USB storage connected to my router. I keep full sized photos stored there. This app will NOT auto sync to USB storage on your router. You can manually select photos and manually send them there but I could already do that without the app. Nowhere in the description does it say there is a problem with iOS security interfering with the auto upload feature. But there is. This app has NEVER auto uploaded to my storage connected to my router. It’s other features are already built into my phone. I so wanted this to work. When I submitted a ticket, only then, did I receive a link which explains the issue with auto upload and iOS.

Developer Response

Thanks for your feedback. PhotoSync allows the Auto-Transfer within the restrictions of iOS. The Auto-Transfer is based on geofencing and will of course autoupload to USB storage, if you arrive at the specified location. If Geo-Fencing is not optimal regarding the building situation (e.g. a high story house), PhotoSync also supports iBeacons for triggering the Auto-Transfer.

Works better than I expected!

Flickr’s app only seems to upload as “private” and I wanted to upload as “family”. I had a different app to do this but it stopped working after some iOS 11 changes. I took a chance that this app would do what I wanted, and it did! I generally use it with a geofence indicator to upload when I get home, but I also use the button function to upload when I am at home or work. I only use it for Flickr, but I am considering using it for other services, too. I recommend this app.

What just happened?

I’ve been raving about PhotoSync to everyone I know. Never had one complaint in the entire 2 years I’ve had this App, until today. I upgraded from 3.2.1 to 3.2.2 and now it’s f****d. Doesn’t acknowledge a directory and cannot transfer anything. I uninstalled 3.2.2, reinstalled 3.2.1 and .. still nothing. If the developers read this please respond. I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I’ll be really sad if this cannot be remedied.
