Customer Reviews

Does a fantatic job!

I was a bit concerned over this product based upon the large number of reviewers rating it 1 or 2 stars… but I tried it anyway. And I’m glad I did! This product “may” have had issues in its earlier versions, but I’ve been using it for the past hour with only a few minor instances where it didn’t interpret the characters correctly. This may be linked to a specific font face that it has more difficulty with then others. At any rate, they were quick and easy fixes (after I copied the text into my word processor, spell check did most of the work… so it only took a few seconds) I rated it 4 stars simply because it wasn’t absolutely perfect. And I would definitely recommend it.

Took away functionality in name of bug-fixing

I really liked this app before the latest update. They removed menu bar support. It used to sit nicely in menu bar and could be called anytime. Not anymore. It has completely destroyed my workflow. Now I have to switch between desktops and hovers over all the time. it is totally insane. Please tell me a way to downgrade to old version or provide me a link or restore this functionality

OCR From Screenshots - Very Good

When I was looking for an OCR app, what I was looking for was one that had the ability to extract OCR from screenshots - not just images. This app works for screenshots. I recommend this app above the others. If money is no cost, perhaps an app that absolutely maintains formatting flawlessly would be better suited. But for churn and burn workers like me, who only occassionally need to take a screenshot and extract text - this app is A+.

I looked at all the apps I could, which were reasonably priced, because I am not wealthy nor is my company paying for this app. I was perturbed by the amount of bad reviews for apps. I read one review on here that said to give this a try, the bugs had been fixed. I read another review that complained functionality was taken away in the name of bug fixing, well, if an app is buggy, then who cares if it has a lot of functions? You need to be able to rely on the app. Reliability trumps advanced features when it comes to apps, otherwise, you’ll be dpeending on something in crunch time and it won’t come through. Then, you’ll either not go down that workflow pattern again, or you’ll waste crunchtime-time looking for a new product. Would it be ideal to have a custom shortcut to take a screenshot so that you would not need to actually be in the program? Yes. As an app developer myself, I can assure you that adding functionality like that costs money if you hire someone to do it, and if you do it yourself, it might be labor intensive.

I can attest that not only does this app perform flawlessly from screenshots, but it maintained at least the basic formatting. I am so thankful that this app exists. Thank you so much!
