FarSight Studios, makers of the best pinball games on iOS, PS3, Xbox 360, PSP, 3DS, and Wii, introduces the Pinball Arcade!
(This game requires 3D graphics acceleration. Older Macs and Macs without 3D graphics acceleration are not recommended.)
You can now play exact recreations of the all-time greatest pinball tables from Williams®, Bally®, Stern Pinball®, and Gottlieb® together in one game. Every flipper, bumper, sound effect, and display pixel has been painstakingly emulated in astonishing detail.
The four tables included in the app are Tales of the Arabian Nights™, Ripley's Believe It or Not®, and Theatre of Magic™, and Black Hole™.
This update adds Red & Ted's Road Show™.
Red & Ted's Road Show™ (1994): was part of Williams / Midway's SuperPin line of widebody games. Designed by Pat Lawlor, Dwight Sullivan and Ted Estes, this table has a deep rule set and an open, uncluttered playfield layout with four flippers and two manual plungers. Originally featured in Funhouse™, the game features a more advanced version of Williams' PinMation™ with the animating and talking heads of Red and Ted. Both characters comment on the action as they travel to the west coast of the U.S.A looking for fun and finding trouble in 18 different cities. With its wild dot-mation sequences and shaker motor, this game is a real attention grabber! 6,259 units of this table were produced.
Cactus Canyon™ is free to play as the Table of the Month!
Regular updates have added over 30 classics like Funhouse™, Monster Bash™, Twilight Zone®, Star Trek: The Next Generation®, Creature from the Black Lagoon®, Medieval Madness™, Attack from Mars™, Black Knight™, Space Shuttle®, Bride of Pin•Bot™, Firepower™, Cactus Canyon™, Big Shot™, and other great pinball tables as in-app purchases along with online tournaments and additional modes to challenge yourself and compete against your friends.
Our goal is for the Pinball Arcade to become the most realistic and comprehensive pinball game ever created. Please support us in our efforts to preserve these tables and join the indelible part of Americana that is pinball!

Game Unplayable in OSX Yosemite on iMac
Back in January I reported that all tables in the game have major slowdown issues on 2011 and 2012 iMacs running Mac OS X Yosemite. Farsight responded to my email and confirmed that it is a known issue and they are working on a fix. Five months later, it is still being sold as compatible with OSX 10.7 and above. I tested this latest release, and no luck. Updated for Roadshow, and the problem still exists :(
Slowdown issues ruin experience
I have a retina iMac that should, in theory, be the most powerful consumer machine Apple sells these days. Unfortunately, the game still suffers sever slowdown. Hope it will be fixed soon.
A lot of work ruined by bad execution
a Few things really bug me being a pinball fan:
#1: no one that plays pinball follows the ball like the camera, and that scroll follow is unchangable. This makes timing and lining up shots much harder than on a real table, and very frustrating. I can usually make ramp shots after a few tries, but the camera movement makes hitting the ball at the right time almost impossible.
#2: Having worked at an arcade, I can tell you the modelling of the balls speed an movement was based on older & dirty tables. Real pinball tables, when properly manitained, fly. The balls zip around much faster than this game. It’s as if they found any old table, didn’t clean it, and didn’t even chekck the playfiled angle: Older tables have shallower angled tables, that makes the balls stay in the upper playfield longer if deflected, but weaker flippers which results in slower spoeeds. Newer tables have more powerful flippers and deeper angles to speed up play speed and return the pinball to the flippers sooner.
#3: The audio is authentic, but no one took the time to remix and EQ it for modern equipment so you can understand what the prompts are saying. Playing the sound through a 4" speaker designed for it is fine, even in a noisy arcade, but playingthe same audio that ranges from about 200Hz to 8kHz on 2" computer speakers designed for 500Hz to 20kHz results in a really ugly sound.
#4: the game speed 3D slows down unexpectedly as mentioned on 10.10, making this frustrating to play. I don’t know why it has problems given I’m running a 2.6GHz i7 Quad-core with 16GB RAM and a discreet GPU with 1GB VRAM.
#1,2&4 can be fixed & should be. #3 is minor, but just adds to an overall unenjoyable experience.
For these reasons I can’t give this thing any higher than a 2 & I will probably just delete this frustrating disappointment.
