Best alerting app

Wow what a fantastic safety alerting app. If you are looking for A severe weather alerting app that is accurate, crisp, clean, and packed full of features then look no further. I have tried dozens of whether alerting apps and nlne compare to this one. Best of all I love the ability to choose from several custom alert tones for different categories and that it is voice over compatible. Great job and thanks for supporting those of us with visual impairments.

This Doesn't Work.

Don't get this because it doesn't work. I tried everything but it still doesn't work. One time we had a bad storm in the night and no one knew, IT DIDNT ALERT US!!! 😰👎🏻😡. DO NOT GET THIS APP!!! 😡😡😡👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻🚫🚫🚫❗️❗️❗️

Great App to Compromise Your Safety

Update Feb 2016: not much is different, even after all the years ping4 has had to fine tune it's app. Not much is different really, and after all the years ping4 has had to fix the bugs. Why I don't get rid of it I don't know. Probably, I will for good now. Have never been able to rely on it solely and that's pathetic for what it is! Device and app are configured properly for notifications according to the internal app check (green checks on both items) and all settings are correct as noted in faqs. Except I opt for a alert style notification rather than the banner style that is noted being required for some unknown and illogical reason. Should make no difference as far as sounding the alert notification, at least in accordance with my understanding of iOS. No sounds are heard with past two storms at all, though it was working okay at some point prior to that--too well in fact. They really need to eliminate repeating the same alert over and over. The original is plenty of information until it expires or is modified. That's intrusive enough. Maybe the NWS does this with their warning system, but ping4 shouldn't have to follow suit just to notify people that the same warning is continuing. So, my complaint is it works too good when it works, but lately it is back to not working at all. I'm surprised the Massachusetts Emergency service contracts with such an inconsistent and basically incompetent service for something so vitally important. A false sense of security is worse than no security at all. For weather emergencies (and 99% are), it's much safer to rely on one of the many decent plain old weather apps for emergency alerts. Steer clear of this app!
Hard to believe Ping4 Alerts is the official emergency information app for MEMA (Massachusetts state govt). Ping4 Alerts is horrible and cannot be relied upon in the least. Not consistently providing the accurate and complete information you need is Ping4 Alert's worst sin of course, but Ping4 Alerts also actually sometimes gives false positives - and I'm not talking about test alerts either. Support for Ping4 Alerts is also useless. They tend to offer no help or advice and blame most of their multitude of problems on the contention that the iOS operating system is flawed. You would be well advised to use a good weather app for weather emergencies. Consider using local media outlet apps for other emergencies. Also, bookmark pertinent emergency info sites in your mobile browser (e.g., regional power outage information updates, the Red Cross first aid section, etc.). Better yet, get the promptest reliable emergency information from Twitter - truly! If we've learned anything at all over the past 15 years, it's that we can't depend on the US state or federal governments to protect us from disasters and emergencies (many types of which are clearly more probable now than ever). We also are unwise to depend on any organization (like Ping4 Alerts) with which the government contracts. If you have the Ping4 Alerts app, delete it or at most, use it only secondarily. In providing a false sense of security, Ping4 Alerts is worse than having nothing at all. Do, however, arm yourself with good apps and site bookmarks that are tied to organizations unaffiliated with the government.
