Would love to give this game a higher rating but....
I love pinochle but it is really frustrating when the computer withholds a jack that would make a run in lieu of passing 2 10s. Just an example of having a partner that you can't count on. They fail to pass parts of a pinochle but pass an unrelated king instead, what's with that? I think the writer does not understand the game. Same with playing. They throw aces with no thought to helping the partner cover its small cards. The game can be so much fun and it is close to being a success if you would please improve the strategy. I hope you will take this as constructive criticism because you would have a great gam if you could use more of the normal playing strategy like trying to save for the last trick extra point. That has cost numerous failures. Please fix it if you can and I will recommend it to many friends.
Trump rules changed again
I've played about thousand games of Pinocle with this app, I don't play much else except Tetris to pass idle moments. I do enjoy it overall, and also agree with most of the negative reviews. After a while it's easy to predict what your partner will play though it's often nonsensical. I rarely yield the bid to my partner, and it's best to be aggressive in bidding. My main complaint lately is that the game forces you to use trump if you can't play the given suit. I like to yield to my partner in the middle of the hand to allow him to play his Aces. It's disruptive if I can't throw some trash down and must pick up with trump.
Fun and fast!
I had forgotten all about Pinochle since no one I know plays. I learned from my parents when I was 10 or so. One thing I remember is the option to "shoot the moon" for 1500 points if you thought you could take every trick. Not sure if that was a real rule or just one in our family. It was fun regardless. I love how fast the game moves. One suggestion I have is to have the cards in your hand separate black suits and red suits. For instance all your red hearts, then black spades, then red diamonds, then black clubs.
