Get it together Pinterest!!!!
I use to love this app and use it all the time. I no longer go on Pinterest using the app BECAUSE THEY HAVE TAKEN AWAY THE GRID VIEW WHEN LOOKING AT YOUR PERSONAL BOARDS. Huge mistake! HUGE! The most annoying thing ever. I wrote to Pinterest thinking there was something wrong, only to find that it was done on purpose! Lol! Unbelievable! So if you go to your personal bonds you have to scroll and scroll to the board you want, AND YOU CANNOT ARRANGE YOUR BOARD BY MIVING THEM AROUND! Unbelievable! So I refuse to use the app anymore, which is really sad and I miss it! But I can't stand how dis functional it is now. On the desktop the grid view is still the same, so I only use Pinterest on my desktop now. So sad Pinterest has done this. There are some other things that are also annoying that I have heard many say they don't like it. When you go to search pins, you want to see pins from those you are following, but Pinterest now decides what you like and mixes additional pins and paid pins in with the pins of people you follow, you hardly see any pins of those you are following now. So because of all these changes Pinterest is doing they are losing users. Pinterest get it together and try keeping you users happier than your sponsors!
Becoming less user-friendly over time. Perhaps the most annoying feature is that clicking on a pin no longer shows comments related to the pin--you have to go back and click again on a very small section of the text underneath the pin, and if you are a pixel off you have to attempt it again. Why would you want to make Pinterest less user-friendly for folks who want to converse with one another? Interactions are what bring people back, not ridiculous suggestions.
And the suggestions are out of control. If I search for something like aloe vera, my mainpage is swamped with 37 recommended pins about Aloe vera--many of them repeated over and over again, or are items I already pinned! Because the algorithm simply throws any and all related content my way, much of it is low-quality, and I wind up rejecting it anyway.
Lastly, the feature where we can search for a section of the image is totally useless. It's just some distracting, pulsating icon in the corner that takes away from the image that I want to see.
Useful but Annoyingly "Helpful"
I use Pinterest daily for work with clients and collaborators. It's great. But Pinterest has added so many things to "make the experience better" that it's distracting me from using it. It's one thing to suggest things but another to impose content. We humans LOVE choice. Even if it's a tiny small choice. We hate having to do anything. Pinterest doesn't understand this basic human need to choose. When creating an account, you HAVE to pick 5 topics to follow. And once you go in and unfollow them, they continue to show up in your feed. And the "picked for you" pins are so overwhelming and there is no way to turn them off. Additionally, if Pinterest feels you don't have enough pins, they'll show super old pins from people you follow. What you get when you remove choice from people is rebellion. So I assume that's what this review is. It just bugs me because I do like it sooo much but Pinterest is way overthinking user onboarding.
