Pipiatum supports Year 7 and Year 8 students revising their Latin vocabulary and grammar for the UK’s Common Entrance Exam. It’s fun. It’s helpful. And it is user friendly.
It includes illustrations for each Latin word to support memorisation, and every word is read aloud to help students recall the pronunciation and spelling. There are three modes:
•Learn Mode, which displays each word, with its illustration and sound;
•Practice Mode, which includes Primus, Magnus and Tyrannus assessments, with plenty of help and guidance
•Test Mode, which records personal best scores, and also includes three levels of testing – Primus, Magnus and Tyrannus
Primus Mode involves translating from Latin to English.
Magnus Mode involves translating from English to Latin.
Tyrannus Mode involves keyboard entry of Latin answers.
There is also a set of Noun Endings exercises. This has practice exercises, which include hints about the case of the noun. There are also test exercises, which include no hints.
This Level 1 App is priced £2.99 Coming soon, Level 2 and Level 3.
What's New in Version 1.2
We have added a module on Verbs. This covers 1st-4th conjugations verbs and has a full range of verb exercises in Primus, Magnus and Tyrannus Modes. We have also added more noun exercises for both Practice and Test Modes. We have made some other changes, too: there's a new main menu; we have changed the name to Nouns, Cases and Endings; the App cycles through the vocab words in Learn Mode more quickly.
