Fun overall mechanic, unclear if AI cheats
This is a pretty fun, tug-of-war, map-control game. The mechanic is decent. The problem is, it's extremely hard, and I've seen the computer player's army do some "fishy" things.
For example, they'll have a node controlled by say 6 units. You send a 12er at it, and it takes it down to 4. Whaaaaat?? I've seen MUCH worse than this too. They'll have a node in the single digits, you send like 30 guys at it and they all disappear upon reaching it, BARELY touching the number. And sometimes they'll somehow convert a node you have well fortified (say, 30 guys); you look away and look back and magically it's held by 37 of THEIR guys.
If they made it more clear about the rules and explained how I, too, can cheat like this (if this is actually supposed to happen), I'd give a higher rating.
Really amazingly great
The haters are wrong. This is one of those games that gets hard very fast, even on Easy mode. But the truth is, it's wonderful. Splendid graphics, fantastic gameplay. I would rank it among the Top 5 iPad games I've ever played. It's that good. Stay sharp, play fast, and you'll have fun.
Worn out genre, lacks imagination
I didn't pay attention to details not what I thought. Worn out genre of dragging troops back and forth. No pirate attacks, nothing naval, and the maps are just background. Horrible remake of free games that were boring years ago. Worst part is dragging spells across a location node, drops the spell so controls don't even work. I'll pretend I bought a 2 dollar lottery ticket and lost.
