We strongly suggest reading the tutorial before recording your videos.

There was a time when you needed multi-million dollar cameras, expensive radar guns, and a huge team to accurately measure your performance on the pitcher's mound. You must've thought to yourself, "there's got to be another way!"

We feel your pain. We thought for a very long time, and found a better way. We brought our amazing desktop tools to iOS so you can start improving your performance by using your iPhone!

With Pitch Analyzer, you'll be able to:
- Get the velocity of a thrown ball
- View the flight path of a ball as it travels from the mound
- Replay clips to improve performance

And additional features are available for purchase through the app which enable features like:

- Strike Zone (for *finally* being able to call the umpire out)
- Multi Pitch (to view multiple flight paths at the same time)
- Drawing (Coach with visuals by drawing on top of a video)

With more features to come over time.

Crashes and Data Errors

So far it just crashes when I add a video. Waiting for update to fix, but otherwise the app has great potential and even though the good stuff costs $10 it seems well worth it.

UPDATE: I realized I was filming at 720p so that issue went away, but it still crashes when I add some videos. The other issue is it mostly says "data issue" which I assume is because I don't have perfect conditions to film. Still excited!

Developer Response

I'm glad we could help with that one issue! I have gotten some reports of it crashing on some videos and not others, and I am looking into that. "Data Error" means that the software was not able to detect the ball enough times to give a velocity. When this happens I suggest making sure you have a clean ball, dark background, and a decent amount of light (the camera gives grainy video when there isn't enough light). We have some videos explaining how we setup our camera for a GoPro, and the iPhone is the exact same. The link to that video is provided below. If you have any other issues please do not hesitate to contact us through our contact page on our website. We are here to help in any way we can! Oh and we suggest recording videos at 60 frames per second or higher, that's what works best.

This is Free?!

Definitely amazed that an app actually tracks the ball w/o having to do anything but analyze my video. Little bit of learning curve on best recording conditions, but found the how to videos on their website very helpful! They have a hitting app on the way if their website is any indication, can't wait for that to come out!

Just used it and it worked really really well! At first I couldn't figure it out but then I went back and read the slides in the tutorial and that helped a lot. Overall fantastic app, super excited about it
