Description

Pixaki is a powerful pixel art creation app for iPad. It features many of the same features found in desktop apps — such as custom canvas sizes, layers, precise color selection and customisable palettes — but with a gorgeous multi-touch interface that is just right for iPad. Whether you're creating 8-bit game characters or vast isometric cityscapes, Pixaki has the tools you'll need in an app you'll love.

Creating pixel art with Pixaki is every bit as accurate as using a mouse and cursor. Pixaki lets you smoothly zoom in up to 250x with a simple pinch gesture to give you unparalleled precision. It turns out that pixel art and iPad are an awesome combination.

Absolutely enjoyable.

The entire design of Pixaki really is absolutely enjoyable. Easy to pick up for beginners and pros alike to draw on custom canvas sizes like 16x16 and up. Pixaki has some great features such as layers, which allow you to draw a face on one layer, hair on another and add that extra level of control to separate elements of your design. Layers also has options like merge, duplicate, opacity and copy and paste. I like to use opacity and layer merging to blend colors and shades in a way that lets me achieve various textures and transparency. The pixel brush is also scalable up to a bigger size brush for quickly painting larger areas. The new custom color wheel can help mix new colors and/or input hex codes for precise colors. In Pixaki 2.0 there's now a new swatch area (Global / Document.) so we can now save custom colors inside each project independently. Finally, exporting has three easy options: .Pixaki to share and collaborate with others, .PSD for Photoshop including your layers and .PNG for saving higher resolutions (with transparency). The PNG option has a magnification option for when you need to enlarge your design, like for wallpapers, etc..

I've enjoyed creating with it and I think you will too. Worth getting for all pixel lovers.

Perfect for the pixel enthusiast

I have really enjoyed Pixaki so far. It is a beautifully designed app, and it does exactly what I need it to do.

Exporting as PNG or PSD is great for pixel art. And the layer previews are so nice. I have used apps with layers before, and none have been done as well as they have in Pixaki. Version 2 adds the ability to import images from the image library, making it even better.

Surprised

Honestly surprised this app was still being worked on. But also thrilled! This iOS 8 design is gorgeous! This app really is the best pixel art app. Only complaint with the recent update is crashes when selecting tools or adjustments.
