Pixaki is a powerful pixel art creation app for iPad. It features many of the same features found in desktop apps — such as custom canvas sizes, layers, precise color selection and customisable palettes — but with a gorgeous multi-touch interface that is just right for iPad. Whether you're creating 8-bit game characters or vast isometric cityscapes, Pixaki has the tools you'll need in an app you'll love.

Creating pixel art with Pixaki is every bit as accurate as using a mouse and cursor. Pixaki lets you smoothly zoom in up to 250x with a simple pinch gesture to give you unparalleled precision. It turns out that pixel art and iPad are an awesome combination.

“It’s a great way to kick back on the couch and create the 8-bit scene of your dreams.” — The Verge
“…intuitive touchscreen controls and clever upscaling tech for usage elsewhere.” — The Guardian
“Create your own minimal masterpiece with Pixaki.” — Creative Bloq

Customer Reviews

A good start but needs many more features to justify the price point

I bought this based on a positive website review and have been very underwhelmed. It lacks even the most basic features available in free open source pixel art applications available on desktops. There are no animation tools, no tools for creating lines or basic shapes, no mode or solution for wrapping or tiling. The developer should take a look at piskel and aseprite. If this app had the utility of either of those programs I would be happy with even a 15 to 20 dollar price point.

If an update adds these features I will happily change this review.

The best pixel art app. Perfect for the pixel enthusiast

I have really enjoyed Pixaki since version 1.0. It is a beautifully designed app, and it does exactly what I need it to do.

Exporting as PNG or PSD is great for pixel art. And the layer previews are so nice. I have used apps with layers before, and none have been done as well as they have in Pixaki. Version 2 adds the ability to import images from the image library, making it even better.

Great Pixel art editor!

I've been searching for a pixel art editor for working on game graphics for a long time and haven't found anything good. Pixaki comes really close to being perfect for me. It sounds like animation tools are coming soon so once that's out of beta and you can draw basic line / circle shapes I think this will be perfect and definitely worth the price tag!
