What's New in Version 2.2.0
Minor bugs fixed.
Worked well for Scanning - interface needs work
I downloaded the app so I could scan directly to my iPad. It worked well with my Canon Pixma MG3200 printer / scanner. Connected automatically through AirPrint, and I simply had to click "scan." Scanning 2nd page of the document was totally intuitive, and I was able to save it easily as a .pdf file. The only slightly tricky part was finding where the file went. I tried to find where it resided by exiting the app and searching my iPad, and I also tried finding the file to attach through the Mail app. Neither of those worked, so I went back into the Canon app, and found that if I clicked "Print Document" I could find the file(s) I scanned, then email them from there. It was not extremely intuitive (otherwise I would give 5 stars), but I still managed to make it work with very little frustration. Try this app, if you need to do simple scanning of images or documents from your Canon AirPrint / Pixma printer/scanner to your iOS Device.
Fully happy w scan function, will update stars when I try more
Standing at my Canon MX922 to scan documents minutes ago I wondered "wouldn't it be nice if there was phone app so I could direct printer to scan and then save to Dropbox," vs going to my laptop and using the clunky scanning software I'd tried weeks ago. App Store, downloaded different Canon app, immediately detects my wireless printer, tells me not right app for this printer but "would you like to be directed to right app to download?" (Bam! Great. This is right approach.). Immed opens right app in App Store to download. I do, detects printer immed., hit 'scan' icon, choose pdf or jpg, grayscale or color etc, hit 'share' icon, open in Dropbox, change title there (bam! done deal). This is just what I wanted minutes ago. Like a remote control for printer. I'll reserve 5 stars as I tried nothing else but for scanning (and straightforward it-works app design) am content.
Scan function works well (mx920 and iPhone 6), however, the app could use some improvements:
change scan resolution,
single tap to change scan settings (currently two),
and ending a scan is not intuitive (after scanning you can send a scan as an email attachment or upload it to a cloud service. When done, you hit back. This does not make sense. There should be a "finish" or "complete" button),
Printing from more cloud service should be added for photos and documents, especially google drive.
