Been playing this game for years.
After playing this game for years I felt it was necessary to update my review. It is a really solid game, however, it has some balance issues that really only become apparent when trying to get extremely high scores. For example, some levels do not give me enough time to get a perfect score bonus while other levels I have an excess 3 to 4 seconds where I am just waiting for the next level to begin. Also, it seems depending on how you play the game tailors itself to you and gives you harder levels or more or less game time. There is something about the consistency I don't understand.
Additionally, Infinite Rush is only infinite in a very cheap kind of way. Why not let the player cycle through all available levels endlessly till he dies?
Has something for everyone
The retro look and the platforming first pulled me in when only the Classic Rush mode was available. With every update that comes out, the game adds something unique to the mix. This uniqueness makes for more fun.
This update fixed the high score bug that came in the last version, but it also left another bug in its place. In Rainbow Rush, you are told that you can "tap anywhere" to change lanes. I was struggling to change a lane until I realized that I had to tap the screen with not one -- as was true before -- but *two* fingers.
I will duly inform the devs of this and give them my last star when the above is fixed.
Great variety of platforming
Completely retro, but this is definitely fined tuned to perfection in what it does. If I had problems with the controls before, I certainly didn't now. Seems like any failure I had, in keeping the combo, was just my own execution, now.
This could be platforming for those who get bored fast because in seconds, you're playing a different style. Whether it is single screen platforming and dodging, scrolling to the right, scrolling to the left, scrolling down or up, the game covers about all the retro platforming types. Within a few minutes, you'll have sampled them all.
