Open the Mac App Store to buy and download apps.
PlaceTagger is an easy to use app that geotags pictures taken on your digital camera. Just sync, shoot, tag. PlaceTagger for iOS (sold separately on the App Store) records location data while maximizing battery life and uses iCloud to sync location data to your iPad and Mac. PlaceTagger has been featured by TUAW (http://j.mp/ptuaw) and Macworld (http://j.mp/5gglZc).
Use PlaceTagger for Mac to geotag most popular image formats including your DSLR's RAW image files! You can also allows you to adjust timestamps on your photos in case you forget to synchronize your camera and iPhone clocks.
PlaceTagger also lets you export to GPX track files so you can geotag using your favorite software to geotag (e.g. Aperture 3 or other software that supports geotagging via GPX tracks).
PlaceTagger also contains in-app step-by-step help and FAQ.
+ iCloud sync for location data
+ Shows location data on map in the form of a track
+ Optional iOS app for recording on your iPhone and recording or geotagging on your iPad, also with iCloud support (sold separately on App Store)
+ GPX track import so you can record with your favorite app (so long as it exports single GPX tracks)
+ GPX track export for geotagging with your favorite application
+ Batch adjust image file dates (select several images, pick an offset and the offset is applied to the rest of the images)
What's New in Version 2.0.1
- Fixes a bug that caused some images to not be properly tagged
- PlaceTagger now exits after the last window is closed
I was a big fan of the previous version of Placetagger. While I enjoy the slick new look and interface, this app is not reliable. It crashes a lot. When you think it's running, it's not. Last week in Yellowstone, I'd have to constantly check to see if it was running while I was shooting and most of the time, it wasn't. The previous version of the app I could leave running on my iPhone all day and not be worried. The Mac app is also buggy. iCloud synching doesn't appear to be working and between my two Macs (iMac and Macbook Air), they are inconsistent with the GPS data. The only way I can get it to work is to export the GPS sessions from my iPhone and import them to the desktop app. This is a long, painful process. For $4.99, this is unacceptable. Please avoid purchasing this app until the issues are fixed.
DOES, NOT, WORK
useless piece of software. The automatic syncing using icloud simply does not work, I have troubleshot (?) all their recommendations and stil no luck. the manual export/import of a .gpx file also fails to match photos with the data recorded by the app. YES, the times on both phone and camera are synced.
To sum up, this is pathetic
This is the first review I write.
The app (for iphone) constantly crashes, does not sync with iCloud and it's so unreliable I don't think it can really be used.
As for the Mac App that works, but without iCloud integration it's a constant export -> import cycle.
Bottom line: no worth it. How does one get their money back?
