This app and support stink - save your money

I bought this app today. I followed the directions exactly as posted. Not a single photo I took of ANY plant/flower was identified by the app. NOT ONE. I contacted support, and after much back and forth, finally received an email that basically said, “it was the number one app in the App Store today” and that I should just wait because they’re going to release an update. So, just be quiet cuz it’s a great app - even though it didn’t work AT ALL, not one time. Of course, when this all began, they said if they couldn’t resolve the issue they would refund the $3.99 I paid for it. Guess what? The issue isn’t resolved and NO REFUND. What a surprise! Save your money. The App didn’t work at all and customer support was completely ineffective and didn’t follow through with what they said they would do.

At the end of the email they did thank me for being “part of PlantSnapp!” Yeah. Great.

Developer Response

This issue was resolved back in October 2017, the fix to the issue was released one day after the problem occurred. All refunds are immediately issued by Apple when requested.

So much fun!

Downloaded this today before we went for a walk. It’s fall here and most plants are barren of fruits, flowers or leaves. However we were still able to positively identify a bunch of different berry bushes and evergreen species. The app told us about whether they were edible or not, medicinal uses of the plant and specific features for positively identifying them. The experience sparked research and discussion among my family and a confidence in knowing what plants are growing all around us. I would highly recommend this to all of my friends. I like the features it has and look forward to further development and precision of the app.

Developer Response

Hello Grojangle. Thank you for the kind words! This is exactly the reaction we hope to spark...bringing people back to nature. There is so much beauty and wonder surrounding us everywhere we go, we hope to provide this type of experience to people like you all around the world!

Great concept - execution is hit or miss

Paul Horne

It got about 70% of the houseplants and flowers in my home. Needs smarter “deep learning” and better UI. Get rid of the useless/distracting animation, and stop pushing the tutorial — WE GET IT - THERE’S A TUTORIAL. That’s a feature you watch once and never need again — it should not be 50% of the home screen. It’s also non-intuitive to have a camera button that’s not directly under the viewfinder — again, lose the tutorial button. Stop asking if I’m enjoying the app — every time you ask I’m enjoying it less. And just save our photos if we accept — we don’t need another popup telling us the app did what we just told it do. Not a $3.99 app yet — should be free until it gets better and then $1.99.

Developer Response

Hello Paul! We are very sorry you are having trouble! PlantSnap is 92% accurate, so please let us try to help you solve the problem so you can experience all the benefits of PlantSnap. Did you get a chance to watch the instructional video and read the welcome email? If not, will you try that and let us know if it helped. If you did watch and read and are still experiencing problems, please contact us at We have a full refund policy, and we want you to have a great experience, and your feedback is vital to helping us continue to improve, so please do reach out to us. Here are hundreds of videos demonstrating PlantSnap in action that should also be helpful:
Finally, if you had read the negative reviews we have received in the past, you would understand why we push the tutorials. Unfortunately, many people simply do not follow directions or read. When you don't follow directions with PlantSnap, it will not work well. We can't force people to follow directions, so our only option is the heavily promote our tutorials. Thanks for being a part of PlantSnap!
