PlayMemories Online is a cloud-based photo and video service by Sony that allows you to organize your photos captured by a camera or smartphone.
By simply enabling the "All Sync" function, photos stored on your smartphone and computer are automatically uploaded to the cloud.
The service is free, and there is no limit to the number of photos you can upload.
・All in one place
All your photos are organized in one place and can be displayed in the same manner on any device.
If the same photo exists in several devices, the duplicated photos will not be displayed.
Your big collection of photos are automatically arranged in an easy-to-view layout. Not only can you sort photos by date, but you can also display your photos in a larger size.
(Notice) If an uploaded photo is greater than 1920 pixels on either of its sides, it will automatically be resized so that the corresponding side is 1920 pixels with using the All Sync feature.
(Notice) 5 GB of cloud storage is available for your videos and original size photos.

Ratings and Reviews
This is the first time in my life that I have ever gone to the trouble of reviewing an app. But this app is so terrible, and so infuriating to even try to use, that I had to write a review. You’ll find that you can’t even log on. The steps that you have to go through to “prove that you’re not a robot“ are seemingly endless. And when the program will not except the proof that you try to supply that you’re not a robot, you’ll find yourself walking out and then trying again. And then the same thing will happen. And it will drive you insane. You might even think that you’re on candid camera show, and there are crowds of people watching you to see if you eventually you’ll go crazy. It’s amazing to me that the designers haven’t fix this yet. Or at a minimum that I haven’t pulled it off the market, given how totally inoperational it is.
Who wrote this piece of garbage? We’ve used the previous PlayMemories app for a couple of years, mainly to download pictures from our Sony camera. All of a sudden the app is gone and this thing is in it’s place.
The sign up pain has been well documented, except for some reason I get a default option to play a word on my phone which I’m supposed to type in. So that requires me to push the PLAY button and rapidly put my phone to my ear. I couldn’t get it to work, ever. Did anyone ever test it?
Then when I went through the garbage of proving that I’m a real person, I still couldn’t figure out how to get it to connect to the camera. So now, I’m back to 20 year old process of transferring photos to my phone via the memory card. Unbelievable.
FWIW, I’m a techie, have been CTO of a few companies (and one big one) that develop and release mobile apps. This app is an embarrassment.
The original playmemories app was a little clunky, but did the job. This is a massive step backward.
I was using PlayMemories since ever I’ve bought my NEX-6, and I was a happy person! PlayMemories was great, user friendly, quick connection to my iPad, absolutely great.
Now with this “upgrade” where you need to register in order to use the app, it’s just the poorest, horrible and frustrating app ever!
I’ve spend 30 min trying to connect my NEX-6 to my iPad and could do it. What a disgraceful situation.
I wish I could have the developer in front of me to tell him how miserable this new app is.
What a shame that Sony has the indecency to do something like this!
