Have you ever been standing in the middle of the city or a strange neighborhood and wondered where your closest PNC Bank ATM or branch is? Well not anymore!
PNC Finder is the new "Augmented Reality" app that lets you locate the nearest PNC location and see the best route to get there. Simply point your phone in any direction and the PNC Finder will tell you if there are any PNC locations ahead. Or, by holding the phone horizontally, you can see the concentration of PNC ATMs and/or branches around you.
Interested in seeing details about a location? Touch one of the location icons to pull up its hours of operation, and then flip to map mode to decide how you want to get there.
- Locate PNC Bank ATMs/branches near you
- See location direction and distance in a heads-up display using your phone's camera
- Get location details, such as hours of operation
- Find out how many ATMs/branches are nearby
- View locations on a map to see the best route
The PNC Finder app contains ATM/branch locations in the following states: Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia.
This app uses the location services provided by the device to determine your location. PNC does not capture or store any location data. Location information is used only to provide the app with "nearby" PNC branches and/or ATMs.
PNC does not charge a fee for mobile banking. However, third party message and data rates may apply.
What's New in Version 1.0.1
-Full support for Retina Display devices
-Minor bug fixes in map view
Kind of pointless
The range locator thing is kind of cool, but there's no real use for it, you can get all the information you need from the map/location information on the PNC banking app itself, the range locator is nothing more than a novelty, unless the given ATM is hard to find
Also the app isn't very accurate, since they base the location by range and not by roadways, I end up passing a PNC ATM on the way to the "closest" ATM, it makes no sense
Lastly, with all the talk about their "advanced ATMs" (there's always a notice about it on the back of their ATM receipts), you would think the app would tell you if a given ATM is an "advanced ATM" or not... Nope, and even then, their advanced ATM only works with checks anyway, even Chase and BoA advanced ATMs handle cash deposits (without envelopes), it's nothing new, and that's nearly all their ATMs, not just a select few like PNC (advanced ATMs in general that is)
Get with the game PNC, I already like Chase better
App gets confused with views
The app looks cool with its camera view locator, but it doesn't accurately tell you where the bank is. You can choose to see the locations on a list, which isn't bad, but the map option (the most helpful) will freeze up and not let you zoom, leaves out certain locations (for example, I prefer drive up tellers and it says there is only 1 in my area, which I know is not true), and will sometimes have the target and pin markers of the camera view show over the map view, which makes it impossible to use.
Overall the app needs work.
Decent app needs work.
For one the range locator is silly because it doesn't help me get directly in front of the ATM. It's just a novelty. In fact it makes finding the ATM worst.
Second, the app should include the hours of the branch. I used it thinking there were nothing but ATMs around me when really I was down the street from a full service branch. It would have been helpful if I had the number to the branch and that I had the option of handling other business besides basic ATM features.
