2...2...7...2. Ever wondered why sound people can't think of more interesting things to test mics with? Why not Peter Parker Picked A Pack Of Oh Man Spiderman Doesn't Start With A P? Beats me. Version 7.2 is here to clear up all that confusion and much much more:
- Added per podcast episode limits. If you have a pesky hourly or daily podcast you're struggling to keep up with, lay your burden at Pocket Casts feet and we'll take care of it. Appreciate all your feedback on this issue!
- Fixed an issue with the Apple Watch Now Playing screen not showing a skip back button.
- Added a setting for the default Up Next swipe, so now you can be the master of if play next or play last is best. Play next fo lyfe tho.
- Fixed quite a few other small things, including some lists getting cut off by the evil that is the mini player.

Best Podcast App, PERIOD!

I have used every podcast app out there and Pocketcasts is one of the best. I use this on my iPhone, iPad, and iMac(the web player of course). They all sync flawlessly. With the addition of skip silence and volume boost, Pocketcasts is at the top of the pack. Some podcasts I like to automatically download every episode. I love the fact that I can set each individual podcast to do that and it works in the background automatically. Other podcasts, I want to read the episode description before I decide whether or not to download. This app gives me the option to do that or even stream if I want to. The UI is really sleek and smooth. I love the easy swiping gestures and the dark theme option. I'm also a huge fan of the tile layout. It's customizable and easy to see which podcasts have episodes available. This app is also cleverly designed to get an episode playing with the fewest actions. The filter settings are perfect for managing all my playlists and I love the "in-progress" filter so I can easily check to see how many episodes I haven't finished yet.
Finally, I'm a huge fan of the "play next" feature. It's super easy to put together a list and just let it run, and change the order with ease. As a power listener of podcasts, this is clearly the best!

V7 Update Kills “Most Powerful Podcast Player”

The features that made this app the powerhouse for podcast users have been removed. This version is perfect for people that like to discover podcasts and listen to the newest episodes.

If you like to organize your episodes into a backlog or create playlists, this app is no longer for you.

There is no way to mass mark old episodes as unplayed so that you can listen through an entire podcast backlog. You will need to manually mark each episode as unplayed.

Upon updating you will also loose your entire “Up Next” queue. So, if you have a big one, beware.

The developer claims that creating custom playlists is not a feature they plan on adding.

This update increases the size of everything on the screen. Instead of everything being on one page where you can easily access your filters, it’s been divided into tabs at the bottom. Your filters, where all the episodes you have spent time filling into tidy categories are no the default page to load. You will need to navigate to the filters tab click a filter and then individually add episodes to your up next queue.

Bring back these features please:

Hands down best podcast app

I rarely write reviews but I have been searching for a podcast app that does everything I want - most importantly an easily editable up next queue and easy visual reminders of what is newest in my library. Apple podcasts app failed for me. I tried Overcast for a few months and couldn’t see what all the fuss was about 1 “smart” playlists wouldn’t filter by release date and up next queue seemed non-existent. For a heavy podcast user - I downloaded 10 days ago and have logged 17 hours of listening already (love the data analysis feature!), this is $4 well spent. And it syncs with my Sonos!
