Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
Featured by Apple in the iTunes store in March, Pocket MUNI is a simple and intuitive San Francisco MUNI application for the iPhone and iPod touch.
- Get arrival times based on actual vehicle locations (powered by NextBus)
- Find the stops closest to you
- Find stops near an address or intersection
- Add favorite routes and stops, and view their arrival times concurrently
- *NEW*: View arrival times for your favorite stops immediately in the iOS 8 Today view.
- View map locations of routes, stops, and vehicles
- Works for bus, metro, and cable car lines in the San Francisco MUNI
- iPad support! Uses the larger screen to create an even more interactive experience
Arrival times can be accessed using WiFi, 3g, and Edge. Route and stop information is saved on your device so you can view them offline. If MUNI has a major route change, simply press one button and Pocket MUNI will download all of the updates.
Vehicle locations are not always available, but this will not affect the accuracy of arrival times
What's New in Version 9.0
- Favorites widget for iOS 8! You will now be able to view arrival times for your favorite stops in the Today pull down view.
- iOS 8 + iPhone 6 support
- Option to view arrival times as time of day (instead of time until arrival)
- Bug fixes
Lines has NOT been updated.
Sadly revised star rating. SF recently changed key bus lines. Updates have not been reflected on Pocket MUNI. Perhaps the developer gave up on the app, because as far, he hasn’t responded as he once did. A bummer because it was one of my favorite bus apps! Don’t give up, Gilad!
Being a non-driving, bus-riding SF resident, I use this app several times a day. Depending on the connection, it works very well. Having read some of the comments, if Pocket Muni is slow or inaccurate, it is NOT the fault of the app which is based on NextBus. NextBus is usually dependable, but I have yet to get an explanation from the SFMTA why buses "disappear" when it says they're a minute away when clearly there are no buses in sight. Having said that, it works great. I love the minibus icons showing the location of the bus along the route. For the price, this is feature-packed. Check out the Favorites feature to keep your most used bus lines in one place. This is a must-have app for all San Francisco visitors and Muni bus-riding residents with iPhones. :^)
Favorites not fixed?
I've bad this app for almost two years now and it had been wonderful until my favorites stopped showing up on the favorites list.
Can we fix this, please??
I was hoping the update would address it but it's the same old stuff, just pretty looking.
And now it crashes every time I try to load info for a route from the favorites list.. And I can't reorganize the list without it crashing. And half of my routes don't show up.
Sometimes, to get predictions to appear, I have to click my route and stop, close the app, and then open it back up.
Seems fixed now!
Dang it, looks like this app is spiraling out of usefulness. Like the waning days of the Palmpilot, now iPhones are starting to see some formerly excellent apps slowly die before their time as the developers fail to maintain them. This was my go-to app for commuting, great interface with maps, lists, and very good choices for color and contrast. Alas, either the developer has abandoned it, and/or iOS 9 has thrown it too many curveballs.
