Too cool!
This is working really well. The set-up went smoothly and I'm definitely not a techie. The little tools are very useful and easy to use once you spend some time learning about them. In the past, I t is able to wake my iMac running Lion which Splashtop couldn't do. I use it a lot more than I thought I would be using it. It rarely fails to connect on the first try but has always connected on the second try then. Free is a great price.
I would love to be able to get sound output from my desktop as well as the visual output without paying as much as for the premium service.
Nice App, but a little slow on response
I installed this to interface with a laptop hardwire connected to a FOH digital mixer (Roland M400). It allows me to make monitor adjustments from the stage without having an additional person to man the board (no yelling info back and forth). Have access to 90% of the features on the FOH mixer. Wish the response from iPad to mixer was a little faster (~ 50-60ms delay) and "turning" knobs takes a bit of practice. Have to enlarge the image to almost fill the screen to get minute adjustments. Works best using a stylus (especially if you have fat fingers), but if you factor in the cost (free) is worth every penny.
Great app got even better
This is an excellent app! I have been using this for Remote Desktop access to my office for more than a year, and it works consistently well, with tools that make a Windows Desktop environment intuitive on a touch-screen device like the iPad. Recent improvements to right-clicking double-clicking and other functionality make it even better than it was. Definitely worth checking out.
