The system is simple, and a minute a day using PocketMoney will help you navigate through the pitfalls of the current economy.
► Start by entering all your income and expenses as they happen across multiple accounts such as credit cards, savings, and checking accounts. PocketMoney can track thousands of transactions through many years of financial data with no performance loss. Transactions can be split across multiple categories, transferred across accounts and can also be scheduled to occur at regular intervals.
► PocketMoney makes this really easy by remembering previous transactions and auto-completing them as you type.
► Analyze your overall financial health by using the built-in reporting features of PocketMoney. Charts can help you visualize overspending and target areas to cut back. Furthermore, your data can be exported to desktop applications such as Microsoft Money and Excel.
► If you use Quicken or MS Money, then you can export your desktop data to PocketMoney, enter data on the road, then export changes back to your desktop app via QIF files. (Quicken Essentials doesn't support QIF exports/imports.)

What's New in Version 4.1.7
-Various bug fixes
Think I found the fix for crashing. Delete your filters..
Some say that they have been using PM for a couple years and think that's a long time, I've had a variant of it since the original Palm Pilot, migrated to Windows Mobile (mistake) and now onto the IOS platform. I bet I've used it for close to 15 years... So I gave it a bit of a chance. The developer writes good stuff and I read a prior review that he may have been taken by cancer. I hope that isn't true, but if it is my condolences to their friends and family.
Since this past update I have struggled with frequent crashes myself. What I did to get them to quit is disable automatic posting for repeating transactions like everyone seems to recommend. I usually post manually anyway, but my crashing kept happening. Then I saw a pattern relating to entering particular accounts so I focused on filters. I have over 25 accounts configured with my install and roughly 35 filters all of which seem to be dynamically created. Some of these filters were for accounts I no longer had. I went thru and deleted all filters and it hasn't crashed since. Hopefully this is the snag and it's fixed for good.
Bug in repeating transactions
I have had a problem since the beginning of the year. On the post date a deposit comes up as a bill that hasn't been paid. There is no way to get out of it other than dropping the app and restarting over and over until I slowly beat the speed of my ipad to get out of my account and into the repeating transactions to delete the transaction. I think I figured out the problem. I have a debit going to the same company as the deposit. I changed one of the names and will see if it happens again next month. I have been using pocket money for 3 years and like the improvements. This took me over an hour to race the CPU the first time and 30 min. Yesterday. It would also be nice to enter a debit ahead of time, show it in the register, but delay the posting until the date it is scheduled to be paid. The other is to not put parenthesis around a negative amount, but use green and red to show your balance.
This app has many bugs and the development team is MIA. It's sad that the lead developer succumbed to his battle with cancer. One of his wishes though, was that Catamount continue in the hands of his cousin, Eric Ojala. Whether this person plans to continue or not is unknown, but one thing is for sure, his lack of communication to a loyal user base has been disgraceful. So many bugs and user complaints, and no fixes. Not even a single post to his own forum, and not a single response to support emails. Absolutely, undeniably disgraceful.
The major bugs that I've encountered are 1) app crashes upon switching accounts. Not every single time, but 75% of the time. 2) the screen does not scroll when hitting next to fill the next transaction line. 3) Memos are now completely inaccessible in the full note view. The top of the note is not viewable.
I have started to look for other apps, but there aren't many app that do what this app does. If this app is abandoned, which I'm beginning rob highly believe, perhaps another developer reading this might swoop in and create something like this? There will be a nice open niche.
