great start, but lacking some features for dance music DJ
To be honest it's an amazing start! It's really hard to find a v1.0 app that is such responsive and polished. Props for pod2g for adding very few but so well done features. It's always better to do less but precisely than add bunch of faulty c*ap, isn't it?
Apart from scratching, let's focus on a dance music DJ'ing. An app needs work to satisfy that kind of DJ. Here are some missing features:
•Some faster way of rewinding a song. It's a pain to rewind a 6 minute song (typical Full) to a desired moment using just a deck. A great solution would be adding an additional waveform in these blue rectangles which show a title and runtime.
• + and - pitch buttons to temporarily change a pitch while pressed and return to neutral (or synced) when released.
•LOOP! It's a muss in some transitions to use a loop. You could add an additional button underneath the Add button to get an access to loop options.
•Filters, or at least some HP/LP fader. Could be placed the same way as the loop.
•Sync button working not only as BPM sync but also syncing beats in songs playing simultaneously on both decks.
•Record. To share my sets with people.
podDJ would be much more useful with those features, and of course the only DJ app I would use.
Thanks for all the work you put in your other activities, keep it up!! ;)
The absolute best DJ app in the AppStore
I am an amateur turntablist and I have to say that this app blew me away! The scratching is so believable that people can't tell if its my turntables or the app. It's actually faster and more precise than my turntables because I can't afford technics and my tables are slow to catch up when scratching, this app does not have that problem, it is fast. I can't stop praising this app, it was so thought out and the programming is remarkable. Pod2g has programmed an app that can literally rock the party BBoy style. I can't wait to dive deeper into the app and use some DJ'ing tricks. If I had to choose a problem it would be that it is difficult to switch tracks quickly. It would be cool if there was some sort of cache that you could put a few tracks in and have the cues saved. This is mainly for the scratching part but, the blending is spot on and not hard to achieve. This app is five star for sure.
It's okay. When compared to djay, it's a toy. There's so many more features on Djay.
Honestly would have payed Pod2g 4x more if he spent his time working on what he's famous for.
The interface looks ghetto compared 2 djay.
2 stars because the scratching capabilities (as advertised) is better than any dj app I've tried. 3 because I know it's only version one and its bound to get better.
No auto cueing songs? What about for people who want it to mix by itself? (Like djay can)
It was a good effort, but honestly, you're much more talented in your other arena, Cyril. Just my opinion. I invite you to prove me wrong and make the app a ton better!
