The Podyssey Podcast app is a community of podcast listeners that help you find the very best podcasts & episodes. Edison Research shows that 42% of podcast listeners are subscribed to three or fewer podcasts. Our mission at Podyssey is to connect the quality podcast content available to people looking to discover more podcasts that interest them.

We have taken a different approach compared to anything currently out there. Rather than building another podcast player, we focus solely on helping users discover quality podcasts. We built Podyssey to be the place where people shared their favourite podcasts and episodes irrespective of which podcast player they use for listening.

The first thing you do when you download Podyssey is import your subscriptions from your podcast player. This builds your profile and our users have told us they love this feature. To understand why, let’s contrast the experience of opening your podcast player, which allows you see the podcasts you have subscribed to and love with having the ability to also open up Podyssey, where you finally get to see which podcasts and episodes your friends are listening to and loving. Another one of the main things to do in the app is to echo out an episode. If a user discovers an episode they are excited to recommended, they can “echo” it out to their friends and the community at large. All their friends see it on their community feed as an episode a friend is recommending and it also shows up on a screen which displays the most echoed out episodes of the month. Lastly, podcast creators, who have been some of our earliest users, are using Podyssey as a platform to connect with their fans and see what they are saying about particular episodes.

Podyssey used to be Echo Podcasts but we have recently gone through a rebrand, and other people have referred to us as Podessey, Podyessey, Podessy, Podyssy, and even Podicy. Podyssey is for you if you want a better sense of which podcasts your friends are listening to, what recommendations they have, or a convenient place to discuss them. Come join us!

Enjoying it

Great way to discover new podcasts. I wish it was a bit better organized and easier to navigate. I usually try to get to the podcast to listen to it directly from Echo once I find one I think sounds interesting, but since it doesn’t go directly to the episode, I have to switch apps a couple times to get the exact episode name so I can scroll through and find it. When they changed the interface recently, I couldn’t figure out how to get to the podcast I wanted to listen to anymore, but they responded quickly to my previous review where I mentioned I couldn’t figure out how to get to the episode I wanted to listen to and gave me a couple options.

Hey, the update was meant to make it easier to listen to the episode on your podcast player. Once you press the 'Add Episode' button, if you open up Apple Podcasts and go to the 'Listen Now' tab, it should be there ready for you to listen to it (you may have pull to refresh that screen so that the screen updates). Also, if you are on an Episode screen on Echo, tap the podcast artwork near the top of the screen, you will then go to the Podcast screen (which lists all the episodes of that podcast). This screen has an option to link you to the podcast directly in your podcast player. It doesn't directly go to the episode but should be a good start. Email me if you need any further help.

Can’t get past import screen

I have the same problem as a previous reviewer. Followed the import instructions except there is no listing for the echo app in the sharing/saving card/tray. Rather than leave a bad review over this I thought would try the support options except those don’t work either. Clicking the “app support” link here on the App Store install page takes you right back to the app where it is stuck on the import screen. Also tried clicking the “developer website “ link here and again same result. Taken right back to a non-functioning app with no way to proceed.

Fixed! Please update to the latest version. I have also updated the App Store links to go to my website and no just open up the app. Thanks, Danny

Seems like a great idea!...

...If I could get it to work with Overcast, that is. I’m stuck not able to import from Overcast. I tapped “from 3rd party app”, watched the how to video, opened Overcast, found the “export opml” button, and tapped - only to find that neither “echo” nor “echo podcasts” is no where to be found in the list of apps to share to. It’s not even visible in either “...” section.

Particulars (hopefully the developer can figure out what’s wrong and issue an update):
iPhone 6s, iOS 11.1.2, Overcast 4.0.1.
