What's New in Version 3.51
-Enjoy POF with fewer bugs and improved stability
Could be ALOT better, could be A LOT worse
THE GOOD:The app is pretty straight forward. Has all its areas clearly tabbed with icons so finding where you want to go is easy. You can set the level of communication outside the app(e-mail) from getting emails for every happenstance to none and everything in between. You get 8 pics to post, which IMHO is enough to make a decision of contact or no contact.
THE BAD. Even though you set your area(zip, town, city) and distance from your area, the app will show you possibles from up to 8 hours drive away. If you set up in your search a specific age bracket, it will ignore it and show you whatever it wants.
Contacts you have nixed show repeatedly and there is no one reviewing the photos to catch pictures, drawings, dogs, etc.
If you are serious about a relationship, don't hold your breath, POF has no way to ensure the quality of people here. If you truly want to get help finding a match, pay for a good service, because only those who really mean to find someone will invest the money to have someone else find them a partner. For fun though, it is a simple enough tool to keep you entertained.
For Premium it's almost perfect.
This app is pretty functional for its main uses, but lacks quite a few features that the main Desktop site does. Even the mobile browser site could use a little TLC.
POF's all around site layout and navigation (Desktop Website) is real dodgy as is. The only reason I have this app as it adds a little mobility as it is a pain for having to log in every time you go idle for several minutes. You really have nothing to 'Secure' as you don't hold any more credentials than any other Social Media, so why not offer us the option to stay logged in?
I have a hard time putting trust into this app as a paid-premium user because I feel entitled to the features I pay for. I want to be sure that the Match/Meetup/Ultra Match/Chem match is not randomly generated as I've had a few questionable bouts.
Messaging/MeetMe features are a lot quicker than they are on the site itself and notifications are instant and not delayed, I like this.
But the fact that I would have to log in to the browser site to 'Send a Gift!' Or change my profile badge as a premium user just erks me.
In all honesty if your Desktop Site was more aesthetically pleasing and the layout was smoother and interesting this review would most likely be a 3-Star post and not a 4-Star post.
Both could use a little love. Something you guys should already be dedicated to.
Needs an iOS 9 update
Intermittently when I click on the app (possibly only when it's already running in the background), it displays incorrectly and I can only see a fraction of the screen, though what do see is oversized. It's not just zoomed however, it's also misaligned.
When it is working "normally", it's still filled with bugs.
For example, there's perennially a badge that says "99+" over the "Meet Me" icon, yet there's never actually 99 or more people available, often none.
But probably my biggest gripe of all is POF's big brother approach to searching. For some reason it thanks you insist on lots of search results when you try and narrow things down to age or geographic parameters. A lot of times what I'm doing is trying to search for somebody that I saw on another (paid) website, and I have a few facts about them but not all. So if I want to see just 54-year-olds in Issaquah for example, why do they insist on showing me all the 47 to 6-year-olds in the greater Seattle area?
