Turn your iPhone or iPad into a pointer and controller for PowerPoint or Keynote presentations. Has 'Next Slide' and 'Previous Slide' controls, and can show notes from presentations on the iPhone display along with a timer. Pointer icon can easily by replaced by any image, which could be used for humorous purposes. Touch the screen to show the pointer - which is controlled either by dragging your finger around the screen (easy) or by orientation (takes a little practice) - your choice.
Requirements: Computer running Mac OS X 10.7 or higher, WiFi connection (on the same local network or by creating a computer-to-computer network), and PowerPoint or Keynote (choose the program on the back side of the App). Please note that this app cannot control an iPad Keynote presentation.
A small Mac application, PointerServer, must be downloaded to your computer and started whenever Pointer is used. This program is available for free at:
Please note that the presentation runs on your computer, not directly from the iPhone or iPad. Instead the iPhone/iPad controls the computer.

I used this app once to practice my speech and it worked fine. It hasn’t worked since. I’ve tried redownloading and restarting my computer and phone but nothings worked. I know it’s only 99¢ but I’m not happy I wasted my money on this.
I had to make a two hour technical presentation to a group of engineers and marketers from a large corporation. The goal was to get them to use my product in their training school. I purchased pointer for my Mac and iPad one week before the presentation. I tried it out and had one issue with the next screen display not working. I sent an email to tech support and they were back to me within a few hours. Turned out I didn't know how to read instructions and it worked fine. When I made the presentation, it was in a high tech classroom with the display above and behind me with a mirrored display on my podium. There was no way to use either a physical pointer or a laser pointer. I used a cross hair loop pointer as the custom pointer on the iPad and was able to see what I was pointing to on the mirrored display while still facing the audience. It worked flawlessly and they ended up agreeing to feature my product in their school.
The folks giving this low ratings must be using the pc version because I had no issues with the Mac version. My only criticism would be the appearance of the program could use a little polish.
A remarkable utility for Keynote presentations that functions smoothly and effectively. Imagine, a pointer and slide controller as convenient as your phone. Computer-to-Computer works well on my network. [I will need to wait until I want to do this on a foreign network as to its simplicity.] Box drawing to select a region of the slide is very slick and beats virtual drawing with a cursor. A deal for 99 cents. While I have not tried a Powerpoint slide show, Keynote is very important to me because of its unique transitions and comfortable interface. The cubes rotate perfectly and all the intraslide transitions function properly as well. Customization of the pointer cursor beats to death using a typical laser pointer where you keep looking for the dot. All in all, an excellent app that significantly enhances an already iPhone product.
