The rules are simple! The object is to be the first player to get one of your figures to your opponent's goal. How will you get to the goal? You'll need to carefully choose your route! In duels, you and your opponent take turns moving your figures. Set up a strategic formation and attack your opponent, or simply block their path—it's all about tactics! Plan your strategy and defeat your opponents in this game of cat and mouse!

In duels, your deck is composed of 6 Pokémon figures. There are all kinds of figures, each with different moves and abilities. Keep this in mind as you build your own custom deck!

Make use of your custom deck and the AI! The AI is a reliable ally who will determine good moves and take your turn for you. Make full use of the AI and crush your opponents!

if i have to be honest...

i've played Pokémon Duel for awhile now. i love the board game aspect, the mechanics, the move sets... i love all of that. it's a fun game to play, but really, it's not perfect.
first of all, the AI you play against, whether in Quests or Training basically get the best chances out of anyone in this game. the chances they spin the perfect attack in the perfect situation every single time is frustrating. i get three of my EX figures knocked out by the same Common figure in a row. what's up with favoriting the AI so much? it's really not fair.
second, how this game defines "P2W." "buy more gems! buy 10 boosters! try your luck!" the 4-, 6-, and 10-pack boosters guarantee 1 EX/UX figure, which is true, but the rest of the figures your gonna get in that pack are R and below. i know you guys need money to keep your game up, but forcing people to buy the best figures just to be a good player is kind of lame.

i'm also still waiting for a Story Mode/Quest update. we haven't gotten one in awhile, and going through the story is one of the only reasons i still play this game. can you at least add one more hotel to play through?

This game is fun for about a week or two. After that it loses most of the appeal. To progress anywhere in the game you have to spend money. While you can complete the game without spending anything, to be competitive in PvP, you need to buy decent Pokémon from the store with gems. Even after that, you are only slightly increasing your chances of winning. Matchmaking is very random. One battle may be super easy with an opponent 100+ points below you, where the next 5 are with opponents 500+ points above you. After that there is the hope that you will spin a decent attack. So while there is some strategy to the placement of pieces, it gets thrown out the window when you really need a hit to land just to have it land on a 4% chance miss, and your EX is taken out by a common. While I can appreciate a good challenge, and strategy, it loses a lot in my opinion to simply have most of that stripped away by pure luck of a spinning roulette wheel. So like I said, it’s fun for about a week or so, while everything is new, but after that it just gets monotonous. I hope this was helpful, and good luck to you.

Everything is predetermined.

I learned that it was already set if you’re going to either lose or a win a game. My two recent games, only hit an attack about 2 times out of all of my battles within the game, while the rest... just misses and blues while my opponent got all the wins over my pokemon. I’ve been a long time player and not once have I gotten so much bad spins. They changed the locked booster boxes too, you need to spend gems on the boxes in order to get good pokemon, I tested it out.
And the booster boxes in the shop, it’s all a waste. You have to spend at least 2x the amount of gems you have in order to get decent pokemon. I had gems saved, bought a booster box and only got UCs and the same old R they always give me. I’ve gotten the sale they put out and all of a sudden, I get just one new EX lol. Spend money and you’ll get the good pokemon. But in battles, 50% chance you win not by how good you are, but if the game allows you to win. Overall they deteriorated the game with Pay2Play.
