I'm sure that, by now, all of you are aware of the mobile gaming phenomena known as Pokémon GO. It's become so popular that, since its release in July, Nintendo went from 24th up to 6th in the LikeFolio Top50 and are now they are getting more Twitter mentions than Microsoft, Amazon, Netflix and Facebook.
The recent development of augmented technology gives way to the combination of mobile gaming along with virtual reality to deliver an unprecedented gaming experience to players worldwide. With Pokémon Go’s takeover of app stores, the evidence of a demand for a new generation of gameplay provides a perfect example of this phenomenon.
Pokémon GO has been hailed as a revolutionary development because it heralds a new generation of 'augmented reality' games onto the market. So far, GO has generated over 500 million downloads worldwide. And, it was only a matter of time, till a slew of companion apps developed in the market.
PokéLogs is a companion app in which users share photos of encountered Pokémon while navigating to and from the Pokémon GO app. When you encounter a Pokémon, while playing Pokémon GO, take a snapshot of the target with your Camera before flipping over to PokéLogs. Head for the dashboard, tap the New Log button and generate a new Log with a title, description, and your recent photo. You can even add a cool photo filter as an additional field.
Then, upload and share your generated PokéLog with the rest of the world. This innovative addition to the GO tool-belt truly augments the Pokémon GO gaming adventure and turns it into a much richer social experience. As an added bonus, users can hail Uber rides from the app and catch Pokémon without worrying about distance and time.
For each PokéLog generated, users can submit reports or posts of the same Pokémon. Alternatively, users can report on a different Pokémon that was found in the same area or build a network or group devoted to hunting a specific type of Pokémon.
The possibilities are endless! Vote on a report in a given Log to drive up the rankings or comment to find out more details about the reported sighting. For each report, use AirDrop to share your photos of captured Pokemon with other users in the area or share them via your favorite social utility.
To join a Log, just find and tap the search icon in the toolbar and find and join PokéLogs by title or author. You can also use the geolocation / geofencing feature to notify players on a global map of a particular Pokémon that you found. This feature works within a 100 meter radius, and, only upon entering or exiting the respective geofence.
Bonus: the app includes an augmented reality feature so that users can search for possible locations of rare Pokémon -wherever they may be.
In Summary: record and share your Pokémon findings with fellow users and give them an idea of where to find ‘em themselves. Users can use reported sightings to their advantage and capture more Pokémon. Furthermore, users can share the information about their findings to Facebook, Twitter or any social network on their current list of installs.
