PortraitCam gets a powerful Neural Engine for capturing perfect portraits with the new Portrait Effects Matte support. PortraitCam goes one step further than other apps by intelligently combining both the Depth Data and Matte Image for an unparalleled depth of field. In other words, your portraits will look amazing!
What is Portrait Effects Matte (PEM)? PEM is Apple's new machine learning algorithm that creates a highly detailed mask for portrait photos.
PEM uses segmentation data from the Neural Engine to accurately separate your subject from the background for great portrait photos.
Of course, from the very first version, you can adjust the amount of blur (i.e. the focal distance) even after taking the photo!
I didn't stop there. Using the new Neural Engine for fast and accurate portrait detection, I added a subtle but effective studio lighting control to bring out facial tone and color.

Great lens blur/depth app
Yes, you can use this without double cameras and true depth. The masking does a good job at detecting edges (and people), you can go in closer to clean up any missing bits and pieces if needed.
You can shape the blur with various tools available (aperture etc), you can also add some nice lens flare effects, and more. I like an app that goes the extra step and adds those extra bells and whistles. Well worth a look!

Best Bokeh You Will Find Anywhere
Hey, I’ve been using this app for about a year now, usually it to add depth to my digital art, but with the latest update I am at a complete loss at how to selective add the effect to only certain parts of my photographs, it seems like now I would have to paint the entire canvas with my finger and then erase the parts I want to be blurred, which I’ve never successfully been able to do. What am I doing wrong? Please help.

PortraitCam is the new DepthEffects but don't worry, nothing has been removed! PortraitCam has all of the same features, plus new capabilities such as depth maps and face detection.
Editing the mask is very fussy, doesn’t always seem to want to go where your finger is pointing. Zooming and panning are hard so that doesn’t help. Also on my second use of the app it crashed when I clicked Done after painstaking manual edits on the mask with a very busy background, and this is on a 2-day-old new iPhone with all updates to iOS and apps. This wants to be a pretty cool app but the frustration level is too high.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
