Don't Be Scared to Sell Your Stuff!
I'm in grad school and can't afford to work and attend class like I could in undergrad, so I decided to sell some of my nicer jewelry and clothes I couldn't wear anymore in the professional world. I was scared-I had heard people would say they never got what you were selling in the mail, when they actually did, and then you would never get paid, or say they wanted to return your sale, and then never do it. Not the case. If people do say they never got it, poshmark tracks your item and can see if it was delivered. If people want to return it and don't, poshmark tracks their shipping. This happened to me. The person wanted to return it--then never did. I still got my money. And you get your money the fastest on this app compared to other selling apps I've used. The people who comment on your items can be really persistent if it's a highly sought after item, but if you can't respond in a timely manner, it's nbd. I'll just comment and say I can't respond to everyone, but give a blanket response to the valid questions. They take 20% of your sale, but they are very seller friendly and timely in their responses if you have questions. So if you were thinking about selling, DO IT! I have made some extra cash I can use to to have fun on the weekends and it's awesome.
Great Shop/Sell App BUT
Fees for selling anything is astronomical, 20%! Especially when you sell lower end items. The app is very streamlined and active, that's a given. However, there are a lot of absent sellers that haven't been around for a few months to a year or more! I can't tell because there is no year on the last active day/month. I'd expect for the amount of fees being taken out that this'd at least deactivate inactive shops to weed out the time-wasting listings. I also expect more incentives and abilities as an active Posher. Ie: get "elite" credit for being a frequent shopper (think free coffee punchcard or Sephora VIB Insider Rewards, place 10 purchases- get $X credit towards your next purchase) and curate boards by your own themes. This could help a buyer figure out their own wardrobe possibilities and help sellers sell quickly. There are Posh parties for that, but not everyone participates in that and themes aren't specific. Also, I'd want the ability to block out specific categories like kids clothing. I have no interest in seeing that clog up my feed. Again for 20% fees, I expect more.
Overall Very Good
I downloaded this app because I had a lot of clothes/shoes that I didn't wear anymore, and I wanted to try it out. I've sold about 3 items so far, and I've purchased from other users as well. Everyone is pretty nice, but there are those users who make the experience a little annoying. For example, when Kylie Jenner came out with her oh-so-famous lip kits, users were selling them for twice retail price. Usually I just laugh and scroll past the post. Now this doesn't only happen with those but other products as well. I do think that because poshmark takes a little bit from each of your purchases, people are seriously overpricing things. I have gotten a few good deals on things, but I don't really purchase off the app unless I find something I really want that isn't overpriced. Why buy a used Michael kors bag for $300 when you could buy the same bag brand new for $195? That's really my only problem, other then that it's a great app.
