Easy to use, but...
I signed up in early 2015, and I have to say this app is fantastically easy to use and I love it. I've done ok, selling-wise, gotten some great deals, as well as met (virtually, anyway) some great ladies. It’s wonderful! A few cons - I wish they had better filters when searching for items. As some reviewers have noted, "abandoned" closets or users who haven't signed on in months still have their items come up in search results. I also wish sellers had to ship faster - paying almost $7 for priority mail shipping is frustrating as you could wait up to 7 days for the seller to ship. At least PM follows up on day 4 now, but that doesn’t mean a seller will ship timely. I think you should be able to cancel your order on day 5 of waiting, if you don’t hear from your seller. Additionally in the last year, the site has focused a lot more on wholesale - there is a huge glut of cheap clothes that users buy from China wholesale sites and resell at steep markups. Everyone is selling the same crap, and it’s harder to find quality stuff. I also think they lack seller protections - sometimes users give you low ratings when items don't fit, and you get some canned response from PM that basically says "Oh well, take the good with the bad”
I am a big poshmark user but it feels lately that they aren’t listening to the consumers. Rolling out that we can use flat rate boxes ISN’T what we wanted. We want shipping options! Mercari, your competition will wipe you out if you don’t. Yesterday Mercari updated their already great shipping program. On poshmark it’s $7 regardless of the weight. I have NEVER shipped anything weighing 5 pounds. I always ship items weight about 10 ounces which costs $3-4 tops. It’s not worth it for most people to buy when shipping is so high. Mercari and Ebay both have so many options for shipping. And forget about the offering free shipping on posh. I’m not covering $7. I would offer free shipping if I paid what shipping it REALLY costs. My sales are down on here while on other sites my items are selling very quick.
Love it BUT..
I have sold a lot on Poshmark and they’ve made it simple to do, but they let anyone return an item for whatever the reason. The item can be returned if the seller false advertised, and they never explain to you “why” they returned it. They take 20% which is a lot. There’s no way to privately converse with another posher, and posh never gets back to you if you email them with an issue. I don’t believe it’s worth the 20% that we have to pay on every item. Sellers have to price our items higher to make up for it. We should be have a lot more for the 20% commission they take off of every item! Corporate should be jumping on every email they receive, at least. Instead you get completely ignored.
