Don’t believe the bad reviews
It does exactly what it says it does. I don’t know what’s up with the other reviews on here, but this program works just fine. I’m disappointed, though, as I was hoping it was going to offer more options like this program I use on Windows since this thing actually cost a dollar. Either way, it’s still good and efficient, but it’s almost identical to a free program for Mac that I have which does EVERYTHING this one does and then some. It’s only a dollar so I’m not sweating it. But besides that rip-off feeling, the program itself is certainly worth the dollar ultimately and I would highly recommend it (if for some reason the person I’m recommending it to doesn't want the rival one which is free lol).
Useful for iMessages
I use Powershot all the time for iMessages to clip and send photos to my kids or my wife. This utility allows me to select a picture or portion of the screen and capture it. Once you capture something, you can either save as a .png file on your computer or paste it into a program. In my case, I just capture and paste immediately into iMessages. If you are familiar with the snipper tool in Windows, this program is similar. Not as versatile, doesn’t have a free draw tool for annotation, but for simple annotations (squares, circles, arrows, text) it does the job.
I took a risk, and bingo!
The things that they don’t really make clear in the ad above is that you can resize the capture area after you make it. This was the biggest feature I was searching for. While making the capture area, it’s got a nice magnify loop so you can see exactly where you are capturing. You can also readjust anything when marking up the screen capture before capturing. It’s well worth the price. Not sure why they don’t illustrate these features in the screenshots above. I’m pretty sure they have a really good app to do it with…
