Printer Test for Print Magic
By Wellala, Inc.
Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
Wirelessly print to your wifi printers from the iPhone, iTouch, or iPad. This will work on most wifi printers. It can print to all wifi and wired printers with our free PC App. Please visit www.wellala.com and select PC App to download the app to your laptop.
This app is for testing if your wifi printer is compatible with Print Magic or Print Magic HD wirelessly. Also, you can contact email@example.com to set up printer sharing or PC app capabilities.
THIS IS REVOLUTIONARY.
Print Magic is the leading printer app for the iPhone & iPad that does not require any software to be installed.
• locates all printers on your WiFi network
• allows you to run a simple test to determine if your printer is compatible with Print Magic.
• This update will allow multiple protocol test printing options as well as manual IP printer input & HP test printing.
If you can print a test page with this app, then your printer will work with Print Magic.
See the Print Magic page in iTunes for information about our multiple apps.
What's New in Version 2.0.1
• fixed bug with saving manual printers
• add ability for other apps to launch Print Magic and have Print Magic launch them back.
Canon MG5220 Wifi Printer - Not Compatible
I tried to print from my iPod Touch (2nd gen.) using my new Canon MG5220 Wifi Printer. I launched this test iApp and it found another non-wireless Brother HL-2140 printer automatically that happened to be connected to another computer on my network. It could not find my Canon wifi printer. I manually setup my wireless Canon printer via IP address and it said the printer was now "Ready". I pressed PRINT. Almost immediately, a window asking if I wanted to get the paid version of the app came up. Nothing ever ended up printing on the Canon printer even after trying several times. I didn't attempt printing to the Brother printer because it isn't a printer I use much anymore and since it isn't a wifi printer it requires a special application installed on the connected computer.
My wife uses the Print Direct Pro iApp with her iPad 2 and it works flawlessly with our Canon. Unfortunately, Print Direct Pro costs much more than the discounted price for this app.
Thanks for having a free test app available. I gave it a try but it failed.
Note to Devs: I went to Help > More Troubleshooting and I was brought to a page on your website with a "404 Not Found" error. Might wanna fix that too.
This free app found my printer (Lexmark Pro900) immediately but was not successful at printing to it. I sent an email to the developer asking for help. They responded within 2 hours (!) telling me they are aware of the problem, specific to my printer, and are working on a solution, and asking me to please leave the free app installed and wait for the next update. (Apparently some of the Pro900's use a different protocol than the others.) Based on the fast email response, I have no doubt they will solve the problem soon. I am leaving the app installed and will review again when it automatically updates.
Test to see if real app will work! All apps should have these!
Why anyone would give this testing app a bad review is beyond me. Fine, your printer isn't supported. But YOU FOUND THAT OUT DINGUS!! Instead of wasting $2.99 on the real app first! Get it?! Ya see how that works? Do ya? Yes you do! Who's a good boy?! Who's a good idiot!!
BTW, even if your printer fails the tests (my Brother MFC-490CW failed) you can still get the real app to work with any printer by installing their free printer server app on your PC. Only downside is your PC must be up & running to print from your iPhone, so if that's an issue _ONLY THEN_ look elsewhere...
