Progressive Alarm Clock
By Bradley Fullmer
Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
Progressive Alarm Clock will wake you up gently and gradually using the beautiful sounds of the Tibetan singing bowl. At the specified alarm time, the bells will begin to ring in a pre-defined pattern - starting out softly and slowly and gradually getting louder and more frequent. You'll come out of your slumber slowly and peacefully. No more being jolted awake.
+ After setting the alarm, the app can be put in the background - allowing you to use other apps. At the specified alarm time, the alarm pattern will begin.
+ Choose from five pre-defined patterns with varying bell schedules and escalation lengths.
+ Choose from six different bells of varying size and metal compositions - from bright and clean to deep and complex with lovely overtones.
+ You may enter journal notes upon awakening - great for recording your dreams before the memory fades. You can then go back and review your journal entries and you may export the journal via email. For privacy, you may set a password to prevent unauthorized access.
+ To save battery, you may lock your device's screen and the alarm will still work. Either start the alarm and press the lock (sleep) button, or turn on the "Auto-Lock" setting.
+ This app uses the same amazing bell sounds used in our Insight Timer meditation timer. Here are some app store comments pertaining to the bells:

Beautiful... But not quite there
This is the most peaceful and beautiful gradual alarm I have used. I like that there are different tones of bells from which to choose. I like that the snooze is slightly louder than the first alarm. I agree with the other suggestions mentioned previously: that the alarm would work when minimized or on another page, that there would be settings to repeat an alarm daily or have it not ring on certain days, that the volume on my phone wouldn't have to be adjusted to change the volume on the alarm, and that the layout is a little dated. Additionally, I would also like to see more intervals added so that maybe a reminder alarm could be repeated once an hour or every half hour. Still, I will use it because the sound is worth the hassle.
Save your Money ...
I know it’s only $1.99 but you don’t find out until you buy it that it rings the same time EVERY day. No option to ring on some days and not others and therefore no option to change the time it rings on different days. As far as I can tell, you have to load this every night and I obviously misunderstood the lock screen thing. This morning, it’s ringing, I have to unlock my phone, migrate to the app, open it and tell it to STOP. This app is so one dimensional it is essentially useless. Another problem deals with the volume. The developer tells you to keep it at full blast. Only problem with that is it also changes the volume of some of your other apps, like when you dial the phone and the person in the next county knows what number you’re dialing. And, if you turn the key-in volume down on the phone keys, guess what, the volume on the alarm clock goes down as well. This app is useless and I won’t use it but this one time.
Amazing alarm! So peaceful!
This is the best way to wake up! Gradually and peacefully! You may want to gradually wake up over a 20 minute period with the bowl sounding very low, till it gets to the full volume you set... or set it to chime every few seconds at your wake up time.. or many variations in between.. This developer truly understands a zen lifestyle! Beautiful Tibetan bowl chimes instead of a glaring radio or buzz alarm, what a way to start the day! I have the other two apps Zen Meditation Timer and Zen Reminder-for mindfulness.. All three of these apps are fantastic, and I use them daily! (and no, I don't know the developer!)
