Yes, we added some great new features and made everything faster! But with this release we also took a bit of a step back and laser-focused on our terminal emulation, fixing all sorts of tiny compatibility and display issues with terminal apps you use. It was kind of Prompt's "Snow Leopard" moment, if you will, and because of it, Prompt 2 is better than ever!

>> Other Fixes

Why is this app making random outbound connections?
anon 73882
Very shady for a sensitive security app to be making unsolicited third party connections. It should only be reaching out to servers I explicitly connect to. Developer doesn’t seem to be privacy minded.
Edit: You can say that you care about privacy but as long as your app is making connections that I did not initiate, it means very little. First, it should be opt-in, not opt-out, because by the time the user navigates to the option to opt out, it has already sent some information out to third parties. Second, even with the setting toggled to opt out, it’s still opening random connections, so this setting is insufficient anyway. Earlier versions never did this.

Cannot use Emacs with it
NoFriendBill
This app works great as a basic SSH client. But if you use a external keyboard and use Emacs as your terminal editor, Prompt 2 will not work because it will not interpret the Option key as a meta key, but instead will just insert “funky” characters. I asked the Prompt 2 developers about re-binding Option to a Meta key, and their answer was “I’m afraid there’s no way to change/bind/unbind keys on the keyboard right now. … Your best bet in this case is to use the on-screen keys to use meta or ESC.” They must have never used Emacs, because clicking on-screen for a meta key is not even close to a solution.

Useful, but I would not say “great”
HungryEater0329
Really needs a virtual PC QWERTY keyboard with arrow keys. Using the iPad or iPhone keyboard with this app is very cumbersome. Missing a back slanting ‘ key which would come in very handy for Shell scripts, etc. also would be useful to support cut and paste, and even split screens.
All that said it is very useful in a pinch if I wake up in the middle of the night and want to check my server job status without having to get out of bed :)
Developer Response
Hey there! So you should be able to manually add a / key via the extra keyboard row in Prompt. The "..." button will show you a few presets, otherwise tap and hold one of the four shortcut keys to assign it to something else.
