ProximiT - Boston MBTA Tracker, Schedule Assistant, and Proximity Alerts for the T

Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
ProximiT is a real time personal assistant for all your subway needs in and around Boston.
Ever entered the station right as the train pulled away? You could have walked faster but now you’re stuck waiting.
How about spending an eternity in a hot crowded station when you could have been enjoying the outdoors?
Download ProximiT and never waste your time or money again.
• Get train times for your favorite stations as you approach them, without opening the app.
• See down to the second arrival times for trains, so you’ll know when to rush or take your time and get a cup of coffee.
• Locate nearby stations in a new part of town. Stations are sorted by distance and show upcoming trains, so you can decide which is your best bet.
• Find out about service alerts such as delays, construction, and elevator outages.
Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
ProximiT is not affiliated with the MBTA.

Now serving Assembly station!
This app is pretty bad for the green line. It's completely untrustworthy. As a typical example, 15 minutes ago it told me my train was three stops away. As I write this review, it says the train is two stops away.
Trains will jump further away from you or disappear entirely. Half the time the app can't even load data. Sometimes it will tell you the nearest train is 8 stops away, only for you to watch one arrive in a minute. Other times it will tell you a train is <1 stop away, while you sit and wait for it to never arrive.
It's hard to know for sure if the app is garbage or if it gets garbage data from the MBTA, but either way, this is mostly a waste of time.
The best, most accurate, most elegant of the T trackers
This app is beautiful, simple, and elegant, and gives the exact same estimates that you see on the signs in the stations. Easier to use than any other T app, I've tried most of them.
One tip: to preserve battery life, disable GPS for this app in the iOS Privacy settings. That will disable the automatic notifications too, but I haven't found them useful.
Does one thing exceptionally well
I prefer ProximiT to all other transit apps because it’s better than all the ones I’ve tried at the one task I actually want: telling me the arrival times of the next two trains on the one line at the one station that I care about at the moment. Highly recommended for regular commuters who use the T in Boston. I use it with the Red and Orange lines, and its predictions are always spot on.
