Needs a makeover
First off this app has been on my main home screen for 3-4 years. It simply does what it intends and shockingly there are no other well designed simple gym logs on the App Store that you can pay for up front and don't try to charge a monthly subscription service. However my phone recently became very buggy and I had to do a restore and the only app that wasn't restored was this one. I do not know if it was the culprit of my phones buggy-ness but I'm nervous to download it again as it has been buggy in the past. Also, although the design is still very functional, and simple, it is in desperate need of a refresh to bring it in line with the majority of the OS and other apps. Removing some of the skuemorphic designs elements and further simplifying the interface. However, when looking at the other apps from this developer it seems unlikely that will happen. I hope to be proved wrong as this has been one of the most used apps on my phone for years and due to the sporadic developer support I am no longer able to trust it
I expect normally bare bones set ups on lifting apps and some big flaws here and there, but this app surprised me. It's nice to look at, easy to navigate, comes with many exercises and lifts already and a useful suggestion tool, many of which include instructional pictures to help if you are looking for something new on the spot at the gym. Quick entry of lifts is amazing, and for someone who counts rest time down to the second like myself, the timers that are easily accessible within the set entering page is extremely helpful. The only thing I would change, or rather add, would be the ability to set up a day format to enter in, while it easy if you have an extra 5-10 mins to set up a week or two in advance, being able to just click something like "Chest Day (Density Lifts)" would be extremely helpful. All around, of the many I've tried, this is the best lifting app on the App Store.
This used to be a 5 star app until now. I believe it has something to do with the latest IOS update to why it kick me out the app when I try to input lifting data into the app. If the developers are not going to update (last update 2yrs ago) they need to take it down.
Update: Downloaded the update last week and it did not resolve the issue of crashing when inputting data. 🤨
Update: As of 7/3/18 the app still crashes being used on a 7plus iPhone with the updated from 7 months ago. The developers advised they were re-doing the app over. That’s all great and good but that don’t help me to login my workouts now with out crashing. This app was simple in the fact I can choose which exercises I wanted to use each day. I don’t need a app to have pre-program workout. I like the freedom to chose. If you go to the gym regularly (daily) you can’t alway get on a station due to many people at the guy at the same time. So the app give me the freedom to change up what equipment I use during a workout than have me locked into a set workout routine for a bod part like most apps there.
Update: 8/7/18 I have been using the App since the last update a week ago and it is performing normal with out any crashes. Thank you! 👍🏾💪🏾✌🏾
