Great, unobtrusive app
I've been using Purify since the very beginning, and just now took the time to review it. It as proven to be more than worth the small price I paid for it. It blocks almost every ad that I've ever come across on the mobile web. I can easily whitelist sites, but it actually proves to be a necessity - the reason I'm docking Purify a star is because I occasionally cannot use some websites because of it. It's not because of the website, either, because those same websites that I access with a different ad blocker running on my Mac function just fine. Other than that, though, Purify is as good as iOS ad blockers come! Do yourself a favor and get it.
Does not drain your battery
I compared this to other content blockers and was happy with load times of pages. Also, did not kill my battery. It is also very easy to whitelist a website, so I liked this a lot. I suppose I should say something about the ethics of using ad blockers: until we get phones as juiced up as desktops, it remains a crime for content providers to cause bloated pages. I feel no remorse in using Purity, and just as traditional media was disrupted and arrogantly told to adapt, I and others say the same to the Verges and Awls of the world: adapt.
It works!
I know from experience that your device can slow down noticeably when it has to filter hundreds of third-party apps every day - as was the case with my iPad. iOS does a great job keeping your device safe, but at a cost: minor, incremental slowdowns you might not even notice.
There are lots of ad blockers out there. Purify has two particularly strong features: (1) you can download the latest blocking definitions in the background and (2) it's essentailly invisible.
