Description

Agent Nelson Tethers just solved the biggest case of his career. So why isn't he satisfied? There’s still the case of a missing eraser factory foreman, a whispering madness is still creeping from mind to mind, and a troubling recurrence of... creatures... is lurking into the town.

The FBI's Department of Puzzle Research has marked the case closed -- are they sweeping it under the rug? Or worse, do they not even care? Worried that the case will languish forever unsolved, Tethers must go rogue and venture back to the eerie town of Scoggins, Minnesota to solve the mystery of "the Hidden People" once and for all.

Meh

I loved the first one and both chapters will give you a lot of playing time. This part of the story develops in a very familiar way. You go back to talk to the same people but nothing new really develops with them. Much of their behavior actually doesn't fit with the eventual conclusion of what's going on in Scoggins.

The puzzle portion in this game seemed tacked on. At least one you could skip entirely and many others were just laying around to solve so Nathan could have an unrelated epiphany and were mostly very easy. The ones that weren't were because you had to be familiar with binary and pi numbers and mathematical formulaic symbols or based on some random number system. At least they didn't use 'Lost' as inspiration.

Overall, it felt more like a cartoon mystery to watch unfold than a game. A slow one at that. 2/3 of the game must've been actions clips and 1/2 of those felt like excruciatingly long clips of people moving their eyes and heads silently in reaction to what a character did or said. It was buggy at first but after a few scenes it was smooth. Get this to continue the story if you're a fan, and to support some good artists and writers.

Horrifically bad game, decent movie

So let's make this perfectly clear... this is NOT a game: it's a mildly interactive movie. The number of puzzles is extremely small in this second chapter, they are repetitive, simple (except for one, which comes without any sort of context), and they have absolutely nothing to do with the story being told.

I forgave the first game for similar faults because the characters were so intriguing and the storyline was so original, but in this part of the adventure the bad got worse and the good just stagnated.

Despite what some reviewers are saying this game is NOT long. There are 33 puzzles total, and without the absolutely useless clicking around, there is maybe an hour of gameplay. The puzzles are firmly stuck into a couple, very traditional, categories.

Unlike a true adventure game like Monkey Island, this game tells you exactly where to go and who to talk to, there's no element of interaction in the narrative. You go from A to B to C without needing to think or connect the dots of the storyline on your own.

I got this game, on sale, for $2.99, and I feel like I severely overpaid for it. Even if it were 99 cents, I'm not sure it would be worth it. And the fact that it's not a universal app is just another bad decision.

It's a shame that a studio that has some of the all time great adventure titles (Monkey Island, Sam & Max) can't figure out how to allow the great characters they've made tell their own story.

A worthy sequel to the original Puzzle Agent

I'm glad this sequel finally came out. I loved the original Puzzle Agent and its clever puzzles, quirky characters, and offbeat humor. Though Agent Tether's main mission gets solved by the end of that game, the larger mystery of what happened to the foreman Isaac Davner never got solved...until Puzzle Agent 2! The same things I loved in the original are here in the sequel with more types of ingenious puzzle challenges to solve, returning and new characters, and that same great humor. Here's hoping there's a Puzzle Agent 3! :-)
