What's New in Version 5.1.0
We’ve heard your feedback and are happy to release a new version of the app that brings back landscape mode for iPad users along with many other new features and bug fixes.
-Tilt your iPad in any direction you’d like and the app will work.
-You can now watch the video forecast via a link on the weather page and tap into a more extensive collection of maps and weather images.
-Sign up for push alerts based on the topics that interest you
-Push notifications now reliably open directly to stories (when applicable)
-The main menu is now swipeable - making for fast and easy access to content in the app.
-Resolved a bug that made the interactive radar not load full-screen on the iPad.
-Many other bug fixes you won’t see, but that make the app work better and faster.
Could they possibly cram more ads on the screen?
So this morning, Travis, team nerd, showed this app during his segment (showing the traffic page), suggesting I not leave home without it. I'm guessing the Q13 suits put him up to it, because his version of the traffic screen looked pretty good, but once installed the traffic page (like all the others) is a sub-page surrounded by ads -- complete with its OWN ad banners inside its sub frame. Sheesh. Good thing I have a Retina display so it still looked reasonably sharp under my microscope and jeweler's loupe.
Too many sports notifications!
I liked the app. It functions great. I've never had it crash. I liked receiving breaking news notifications. What I can't stand about it is:
I HATE sports. I really despise having to put up with constant sports updates with no way to opt out. All I wanted was a way to keep up with somewhat local, (I live in Ocean Shores) current events. If they ever update the app to be able to choose what kind of notifications you get I would get it again.
Too many pop ups.
Almost every time I click on a story in this app it opens a pop up and sends me into my browser. Then I have to quit safari and go back to the app just for it to happen again. So much so that the app is virtually unusable.
