Ratings and Reviews
It's an interesting app that helps to keep me informed on what the earth is doing. I have noticed that I often do not get an earthquake notice for about 30 minutes after it has occurred so you certainly don't want to rely on this app to save your life or give you real-time forewarning. It is useful though, especially if you pay close attention- you can see how an earthquake in one region will stimulate an earthquake in an almost opposite region. In this way, it can help you predict what may happen next.
Update: I liked the app much better before it was updated. Before, the map was a satellite image and I could zoom in and explore the topography of the ocean floor and such. Now it’s just a cartoon image. I still gets alerts but I use the app much less now because of the crumby map. And thanks for the adding the ads...
I upped my rating back to 5 stars for the developers quick and helpful response and showing me how to get my satellite image back. Thx:)

Hi, You can change the map by tapping the base map button while on the map or details view. On the iPhone it is the left most button on the bottom toolbar and looks like 3 squares stacked on top of one another. On the iPad it is the 5th button from the right on the top toolbar. There are 8 maps to choose from.
Wish it were more real time
I’ve been using this app for years. I live in Alaska. We get quakes. A LOT of them. And often. The most recent notable one was the 7.0 on November 30, 2018 (it was reported as a 7.0 but that is an average of all of the points. In the area where I live, the data read to 8.0 to 8.2). Since then, we have had hundreds of aftershocks, (I don’t know when they stop being called aftershocks and go back to being called tremors); but there are still a significant number of shakers daily. I have noticed that I don’t get the notification for a shaker that we just had, until 6 to 10 minutes after it happened. With the realization that knowing sooner isn’t going to change the fact that the shaker just happened, it still seems a little unreasonable for there to be that much of a time lapse to get the information. For tsunami warnings and any other emergency information, 6 to 10 minutes can be fatal.

QuakeFeed sends alerts as soon as the USGS reports an earthquake to their data feed. The time it takes for the USGS to report a quake can vary. In California, where their sensor network is very dense, it only takes a couple of minutes. In other parts of the US, it takes an average of 8 minutes. To learn more about tsunami warnings, you should visit the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center website or tsunami.gov. Thanks for your feedback, hope you stay safe up there in Alaska!
Doesn't load notification settings
I downloaded this app and configured my alerts only to receive an alert for Mexico not even five minutes later. I don't live near Mexico and it was not a part of my alert settings that I configured. When I went back in to change the notification settings I received multiple errors saying the app couldn't connect to the notification server. I tried multiple times and when I did finally get in there was a new notification configured that I didn't set up. When I tried to delete it it said the same thing about not being able to connect to the notification server. The ads were unexpected to just show up after I clicked on something and pretty annoying to have to wait five seconds to get to what I clicked on. One extra star because I could limit my notification to only the state I live in. But ultimately this app doesn't work. And maybe given more than 10 minutes this app would work, but I had it set up and something happened to make it not work.

Hello and thank you for your feedback! It sounds like you had some difficulty with setting up your alerts. We’d be happy to help get that fixed! So you can configure QuakeFeed alerts just the way you want. You can reach us by tapping the Settings button (bottom right corner) then Email Support. We can step you through the set-up.
