Quartz • News in a whole new way

Description
Quartz's new app puts the entire global economy in your pocket.
It's an ongoing conversation about the news, sort of like texting. We'll send you messages, photos, GIFs, and links, and you can decide when you're interested in reading more. Each session lasts just a few minutes, so it's perfect for the train, elevator, grocery store line, or wherever you have a spare moment.
And here's the secret about our little news bot: It's written by humans! Smart journalists who want to keep you informed and entertained.
It's pretty simple. Here are some other features:
• Notifications that are relevant and fun. You decide which alerts to receive, and we won't buzz your phone unless it's really, really important.
• On the Today screen, view our most interesting chart of the moment.
• Apple Watch owners, gauge the markets with an emoji on your watch face.
• No more news? Relax. We'll give you a quiz or something else to do.
This app is a new way to read the news that's really made for your phone. We hope you like it. Let us know what you think at hi@qz.com. Thanks!
What's New in Version 1.1
Thanks so much for using Quartz for iPhone. Your enthusiasm and feedback about version 1.0 have been incredible. We can't use emoji in release notes, so... [Person With Folded Hands]. Here are the noticeable changes in version 1.1 of the app:
Speed! Now, when starting up the app, there's no time to brace yourself for the news. It'll get going much faster than before, saving you entire seconds. This is by far the most important change in the new version. Enjoy. [High Voltage Sign]
Stability! We fixed several bugs. For instance, if you tapped a very specific spot on the settings screen, the app would crash for reasons we frankly never figured out. But it no longer happens, so let's never speak of it again. We also addressed other issues that were causing some users to crash. [Hand With Index And Middle Fingers Crossed]
Fewer typos! On the settings screen, "receive" was previously spelled "recieve" because someone forgot, "I before E except after C or when hundreds of thousands of people will see it." [Smiling Face With Open Mouth and Cold Sweat]
Oh, and also! The markets haiku / Now updates reliably / Inside the Watch app. [Raised Hand With Part Between Middle and Ring Fingers]

Customer Reviews
I have been looking for a good news app.. Just found it!
I have been looking for a good news app that doesn't waste a lot of screen space on articles I'm not interested in and there is a lot of then... You know what I'm saying. This app is a breath of fresh air. It lists news for subject areas you select not what boots Garth Brooks wore at the CMA awards.
It gives you a quick read of the news in a short sentence or two. If you want to read more, the app sends you to the source of the article.
Like others have said, "It's like having a conversation with someone about the news"
I love it. It is the first app I open every morning and several times a day to keep up and see what's going on here and the rest of the world.
Great news curation
Latest version is more stable so increasing my stars to four. I enjoy this as a source of news with some humor and good summaries. I'll keep most of my previous one star review here for now until I feel certain the stability issues are worked out:
I wanted to like this app. For the first few days I did. It was a little bit slow, but I liked getting the headline, optionally getting a little more info or digging into the full article. I thought the curation was good. But then it stopped working.
...
So I tried writing to quartz. Alas, there has been no response. Very disappointing.
Good by me.
It could be better, I guess, but I don't know how and don't spend time thinking about it.
Quartz app gives me some interesting news to know so I can keep somewhat in tune with what's going on. I can read more through the links if I want, and sometimes I do, but I feel connected finally to the news in a way I haven't gotten from the 13 other news apps on my iPhone that I don't use (although I always intended to).
I use Quartz daily. And really like the format and content...
