Does exactly what I need it to
I was very hesitant to purchase this app, due to the intense negativity associated with it. Having been a Windows Quicken user for many years, I really wasn't sure if I could live without it. So, I decdied to just see if it would do all that I needed it to do, after all there is a 30 day money back guarantee, right? I haven't been disappointed. I use Quicken strickly for personal finances. When I have business finances to care for, I use Quickbooks. So, for my personal finances, I'm able to enter transactions into my registers, download from my banks' websites (all but 3 are automatic), reconcile (which is really the only qualm I have with the software), set up and look at budgets, and run reports. Now, I found some of those things are done quite differently in the Mac version than the Windows, but once you find the way in to what you need, it's a snap to actually do it, and repeat it. Now, with the reconciling, you actually have to input the current balance from your account. So, I find that to be an annoying extra step. After downloading all the transactions, I have to go back and pull up all my current balances and input that into the reconcilation window. But, nevertheless, it still works and I still use it. So, I may not be a power user, but for basic budgeting and taking care of personal finances, it does exactly what I need it to do.
Don’t Waste Your Money, Just Use Excel
I purchased this app because I noticed that most the bad reviews were from those who migrated from the Windows version to the Mac version. Usually the bad comments were because the Mac version lacks certain features the Windows version had. I figured since I never used the Windows version I would have nothing to compare it to.
Sadly, it doesn’t always take using a pervious version of a program to know you’re using a bad one. This app wouldn’t be so bad, except that it constantly fails at logging into my bank account. It got so bad that my bank locked my account and I had to call them to verify my identity because they thought someone was trying to hack my account. This happened on several occasions, despite the fact that my bank actually has a script to support this program! The only way to work around this was to re-create my account, but I would have to re-create it EVERY time I wanted to log in from this program. That meant all my pervious settings and indexing of all my transactions was lost. Because of this one stupid problem, I’ve deemed this program utterly useless. For all that manual re-typing, I’ll just stick with using Excel. Why Intuit, or any developer for that matter, would even bother releasing a program that doesn’t do the basic things it’s supposed to do is beyond me. They should be ashamed of themselves.
