What's New in Version 1.2.2
Pretty Good, but...
I have used the app for about 3 weeks now and am pretty happy with it overall. I like that is uses location services to give a list of nearby businesses from which to choose. Entering the transaction while I'm leaving the store raises the probabilty that the transaction will actually make it into my register. My biggest problem with the app is the inability to record a transaction as a transfer between accounts. This is pretty basic funcationality and I am surprised at its absence.
I also think that the abilty to enter an Alphanumeric Check #(e.g. TXFR, Checkcard, ATM, Deposit, etc) should be included.
I had no issues setting up the app and syncing has been pretty seamless. I did experience some funky stuff with transactions showing up in the wrong accounts after a sync, but I closed and reopened Quicken and the transactions showed up in the proper accounts. The app mostly gets the jobdone, but there is a little room for improvement.
Not a bad app. Not great, but not as bad as some reviews here make it out to be. If it was called "Quicken Lite" maybe folks wouldn't be so disappointed. Like most apps, you'll have to learn how to use it by yourself. ("Intuit" not living up to its name, should provide a tutorial.)
I'm only about 3 hours into using it. It took 2-1/2 hours to figure out that yes you CAN edit existing checks. You CAN enter check numbers but you better figure out how to do it right when you enter the check cuz you'll never see that number again in this app (though it does port to the PC version).
Sync-ing with the desktop was sweet and easy, honest. I'm not a charts-and-graphs guy and this app (on the iPad) devotes too much space to that - give me the data, just the data. Not having investments isn't important to me.
Best surprise: upon logging out a message displays saying data will be deleted from the device. Why I trust putting any personal data in a cloud is stoopid on me - but at least the data doesn't also sit on my iPad.
Next challenge: how easy is it to enter credit card transactions away from home? I'll try to remember to update this review when I find out.
Puzzled...I love it!
I had been looking for a mobile checkbook app and had tried many that scan receipts etc. I almost passed over Quicken because of the reviews here. I'm so glad I tried it. I love it! Understand, I ONLY use it as a checkbook. I do not do budgets, etc. I have multiple accounts in Quickent and I have never had any problem with syncing. It has worked seamlessly for me for almost a year now. I record my purchases in my phone and toss my receipts immediately, or I don't even take a receipt at all and redcord the transaction at the register. When I get around to it, I sync at my desktop. It does exactly whatI need it to do.
