The Rachio Smart Sprinkler Controller changes the way you water. It makes running your sprinklers easy and convenient while saving you water and money. Rachio automatically creates a watering schedule that lowers your water bill and ensures the beautiful yard you want, while the mobile app gives you access to your sprinkler system from anywhere. Plus, Rachio is compatible with nearly any sized yard and smart home platform.
This is the companion app to the industry leading Rachio Smart Sprinkler Controller.
What's New in Version 2.9.2
* Critical Update *
Fixes an issue that could cause activating a Rachio Gen 2 controller to fail when app is running on iOS 10.2
Charts do not display correctly
The moisture charts are hard to read even more so when the axis is unreadable. The more detail table displays in portrait and it does not fit the screen so you need to scroll left and right to read it. Landscape anyone? Moreover, because of micro-climate this app should allow to configure rain delays because of rain sensor triggers - it should also allow to configure the sensor threshold so at least that moisture is accounted for. Using IFTT to compensate works but I do not see why we have to use a different app to compensate.
Also, this app needs a simple interface - it has almost everything but hard to get to. Something as simple as showing the LEDs from the box would be an improvement - a good app tells you everything about status in one screen without scrolling. That plus a rain sensor status on the main screen, not buried inside a log.
With a product like this that depends on the app to work, there really is no excuse for how bad this is. The lag makes this app almost unusable... we're talking taps on the screen that take a good 30 seconds to register. There are also minutes-long delays any time you make a change to one of your watering schedules.
Maybe as a set-and-forget kind of thing this works fine. But there is no "new seed" setting. So the only solution is to create many, many schedules to keep the seed moist. As it starts to grow, you reduce the waterings... and with the lag, prepare to waste an entire afternoon every time you want to change more than one schedule.
I've contacted support and was told it was something on my end. Doubtful, as this lag has persisted even through new modems, routers, devices, networks, and even ISPs. Also, look at how many others are saying the same thing. It does not portend well that they don't seem to even realize there is a problem.
Control box works, app doesn't.
I changed out some bubblers so I opened the app to test them out. Went to manually water the zone and got a timed out error. Checked my wifi, reset the box, everything was good. Still got a timed out error. Contacted the company via their website blog. Everything I was told to do didn't work. Finally they suggested I close out the app and try again. Huh never thought of that (insert sarcasm). That didn't work so I deleted the app and re-downloaded it. Now I can't even log back into the app. I know my password but it keeps giving me an error so I even clicked on the reset password just for kicks and giggles. When I hit the reset button I got a timed out error. So now I can't even access the app to make any adjustments. Worst app ever! If this isn't resolved quickly, I'll be sending the product back and asking for a full refund.
