RadarScope is a specialized display utility for weather enthusiasts and meteorologists that allows you view NEXRAD Level 3 and super resolution radar data along with Tornado, Severe Thunderstorm, Flash Flood Warnings, and predicted storm tracks issued by the US National Weather Service. It can display the latest reflectivity, velocity, dual-polarization, and other products from any NEXRAD or TDWR radar site in the United States, Guam and Puerto Rico. These aren't smoothed PNG or GIF images, this is native radar data rendered in its original radial format for a high level of detail.
Whether you are scanning reflectivity for a mesocyclone's tell-tale hook echo, trying to pinpoint the landfall of a hurricane's eye wall, or looking for small features like velocity couplets in the storm relative radial velocity product, RadarScope gives you the power to view true radial NEXRAD weather radar on your iOS device.
When there are any Tornado Warnings (outlined in RED), Severe Thunderstorm Warnings (YELLOW polygons), or Flash Flood Warnings (GREEN polygons) in effect throughout the US, tap the warning button in the top right corner to browse the list of current warnings, view the details, and even zoom to the selected warning on the map.
Pinch or stretch to zoom in and out. Drag your finger around the map to scroll. Tap the radar sweep button in the toolbar to switch radars. Select one of the 156 different NEXRAD radar sites and 45 Terminal Doppler radars in the US and 30 other radar sites in Canada, with the rotating radar beam representing each radar's approximate coverage area. Plot your current location by tapping the location button and optionally report it to the Spotter Network. Tap the play button to download and animate over the last six images. Display the names of over 25,000 cities and towns on the map as you zoom and scroll. Tap and hold the color legend to see the data values.
Meanwhile, RadarScope will retrieve and display updated data automatically and intelligently (approximately every 3 to 10 minutes, depending on the radar scan strategy).
You can display data from NOAA's public access web site, our optional WDT feed (the default), or your AllisonHouse subscriber account. Spotter Network members can report their location and view the locations of other spotters.
The RadarScope Pro subscription is an optional add-on data set and provides access to real lightning data that animates along with the radar loop and up to 20 frames of radar data, including *extended loops* of "Super Res" Level 2 data. Super Res Level 2 data is still available to all RadarScope users without purchasing a subscription.

Favorite app. Here's why...
This is my favorite app in the entire App Store. When I need to know if rain or severe weather threatens, this is my go-to app. The imagery is beautiful. Also, for $10/year, I help keep my family safe by knowing where lightning is striking.
I love the update and can't wait to use the feature of being able to step through, at my own pace, recent radar imagery. Also, that makes it easy to share the image from the loop that is of most interest.
The cost of this app is measly compared to the peace of mind knowing that I can track rain and storms while I'm on the go.
Yes, this app contains lots of stuff that the average user doesn't care about, but users can easily ignore those options from the menu. In fact, lay users probably won't even want to scroll through the menu of options---they'll simply choose one and be done with it.
However, for the curious, a simple google search of how to interpret the velocity data can help them begin to really explore one of the many merits of this app: finding rotations in storms that can lead to tornadoes.
Weather radar at home, at work, or on the go---awesome!
Radar is super accurate, mapping could be better, needs spotter report feature
As an avid GR user, this is perfect for my iPhone and awesome for iPad. Data is flexible, punctual, and easy to navigate. Works seamlessly with Spotter Network and my AllisonHouse subscription, although ***submitting spotter reports would be a nice integration!*** If more elaborate street mapping could be available, even just OpenStreetMap with road labels, this would have 5 stars hands down. Some will argue radar smoothing is necessary. I say it's eye candy, but more natural. If included, please be an OPTION, not standard! But wouldn't mind seeing that either. Also, perhaps a ticker to display new warnings as they are received. Overall, great job!!! Love love love!
I have had an iPhone for 6 years, and I have never written a review for any app before, but I read through them all the time. I have had Radarscope ever since it came out and I feel I need to write a review for Radarscope! If you are a weather enthusiast or just want a great radar, this is the best app out there. If there is an issue with the radar, they fix it as soon as possible. If you follow them on Twitter or Facebook, they keep you updated on bug fixes and updates. They are constantly making this app better and better with new features and better smoother graphics. Great app!!
