Radiolab is a show about wonder, curiosity and big ideas. Hailed by critics as “best radio show,” Radiolab presents a potent elixir of science and philosophy, first-person storytelling and radio theatre, all woven together with the most innovative sound design to ever spill out of the radio. Hosted by Jad Abumrad and Robert Krulwich and produced by WNYC, the show is heard on more than 300 public radio stations around the country.

The Radiolab app is all about curiosity, too. More than just a companion to the broadcast, the app is an extension of the Radiolab experience and its spirit of exploration, possibility and play.

By downloading the Radiolab app, you can…

Wonderful show, atrocious app

Why? Why would anyone make such an awful app. It’s too much, with no functionality. I just want to listen to the podcasts, not have an over-animated app with little thought put into the actual functionality.

Fabulous show, bad app

Usability of the app is atrocious with overwrought interactive nonsense and no ability to see info about each show.

Infatuated with Radio Lab

I don't know about you, but I am very stingy with my 5 star ratings. In fact, until now, I've never given an app a 5 star rating.

Radio Lab, or more specifically, the hosts of the podcast, have given me, a layman in most things intellectual, pause to ponder and re-evaluate. Their insightful shorts and thorough features, involving interviews with authors, scientists, "regular" folk and the like, as well as in-depth talks and musings over topics such as death, perception of time, identity and questions of faith, just to name a few, open the eyes and get the mind churning.

More than once, even, have some topics covered drawn a tear or two to my eyes, as real life tragedy and horrors unthinkable have been discussed, and their repercussions debated or lain out in plain English.

I personally adore their production style, with real, human voices interlaced beneath topic banter and soft, emotive, yet sparse droplets of sound interspersed to lend tone to the specific subject matter.

Radio Lab is for the person that likes to think, or whom is interested in taking a step outside the bubble of one's own world. It is accessible, it is relatable, it deals with our society and our people within and sometimes it chooses to catapult skyward and burst through the atmosphere for a glance about. Layman or scholar, young or old, Radio Lab illicits its intended response and helps grant the gift of perspective.

I love you, Radio Lab.
